2025 Ather 450 Apex Electric Scooter Gets Cruise Control With New Update

Ather Energy has upgraded its flagship 450 Apex electric scooter with a cruise control system called Infinite Cruise. The 2025 model year update introduces a first-of-its-kind feature in the premium electric scooter space in India, giving riders more convenience in everyday conditions without changing the scooter’s core specifications.
The new cruise control works in three modes. City Cruise keeps the scooter at a steady speed on flat roads, reducing the need to keep adjusting the throttle in stop-and-go traffic. Hill Cruise helps riders maintain speed on inclines and declines, tackling one of the trickier aspects of scooter riding.
The most unique feature is Crawl Control, which allows the Apex to move steadily at very low speeds of around 10 km/h. This is especially useful for parking, negotiating narrow lanes or handling rough patches where fine throttle control is otherwise difficult.
The system is activated using the existing reverse button, showing Ather’s approach of adding new functionality without complicating the controls or adding extra hardware. Riders can quickly switch cruise control on or off depending on traffic or road conditions.
Apart from the new tech, the scooter remains unchanged mechanically. It continues with a 3.7kWh battery paired to a 7kW motor, delivering a top speed of 100 km/h and a certified range of 157 km on a single charge. Ather has made sure that the cruise control doesn’t compromise either performance or efficiency.
At ₹1,89,999 ex-showroom, the updated Apex holds on to its existing price point. That makes the addition of cruise control an extra benefit without a price hike, which strengthens its positioning against other premium electric scooters.
The feature is not limited to new buyers. Existing 450 Apex owners will also get Infinite Cruise through an over-the-air software update. Since no new hardware is required, the feature can be rolled out to the entire fleet, a clear advantage of Ather’s connected scooter platform. This seamless update approach also builds customer confidence and loyalty.
The system is tightly integrated with Atherstack software, which means future updates can further refine the cruise control or add new modes based on user feedback. Riders benefit not just at the time of purchase but throughout the scooter’s life.
Developing the feature required careful calibration and extensive testing. Cruise control needed to work safely across traffic scenarios, road types and weather conditions, while disengaging instantly if riders needed to brake or accelerate suddenly.
The engineering team also had to ensure the system improved convenience without draining the battery. Calibration ensures that cruise control actually optimises power use instead of wasting energy.
The user interface was designed to be simple. Indicators on the dashboard show when the system is active and which mode is selected, with audio and visual feedback keeping riders informed at all times.
The addition of Infinite Cruise reflects a broader trend of advanced features making their way into electric two-wheelers. While cruise control is rare even on petrol-powered premium scooters, electric powertrains make it easier to implement because of precise motor control. Ather’s introduction of the feature gives it a clear head start in the premium EV segment.
Dealers and service staff are being trained to explain and troubleshoot the new feature, even though it largely runs through software. Market response to this launch is expected to push other brands to develop similar systems, potentially speeding up the spread of advanced rider aids in this segment.
By making cruise control available without raising prices and even offering it to existing owners, Ather has once again used technology as a differentiator. It reinforces the Apex as not just another scooter, but a premium electric two-wheeler that sets the pace for what buyers can expect in future models.
