With an increase in the number of affordable performance bikes in the market, the number of youngsters attracted to biking has also gone up. Many of them have started taking road trips and even posting content related to the same. However, we often come across videos where these young bikers are seen performing stunts on public roads. In some cases, they are caught by the cops for no fault of their own.

Here we have one such video, where a group of bikers was surprised when a cop car stopped and issued a fine of Rs 5,000 for riding on the road. The video has been shared by Kapil on his X profile. In this video, we see a Mahindra Bolero belonging to the UP Police parked on the roadside next to a couple of bikes on the highway. The exact location where this happened is not known.

The cops approached the riders and started clicking pictures of the bikes. When the bikers inquired, the cops told them that they were racing on the road without permission, and that is why a fine was being issued. The biker recording the video was on a Yamaha R15, and the other bikes in the group were a TVS Apache and one more motorcycle.

The bikers started telling the officers that there was some sort of confusion and that they were not racing on the road. He told the officers that they were simply riding the bikes and had stopped for a quick break. The cop then started asking for the license, and the rider was once again confused.

bikers wrongfully fined

It looks like the cops themselves were confused and did not know the difference between riding and racing. Another possibility is that the officers received complaints from locals about illegal races happening on the road, and these bikers happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

We can hear the biker trying to convince the cops by saying they can even check the videos and Google (maybe the YouTube channel) to prove that they were not racing. Last time we checked, riding a two-wheeler on a public road is not an offence.

However, doing stunts and racing is illegal, and the cops have every right to take action against such individuals. The riders even told the officers that their bikes do not go over 130 km/h and that they were not racing. The exhausts on all these motorcycles were also stock.

The cops were not convinced and ended up issuing a challan for Rs 5,000 for illegal racing or racing on a public road without permission. After the video went viral on the internet, many users came forward and posted reactions such as, "The cops do not have enough knowledge about bikes and do not understand the difference between riding and racing."

Some of the comments included, “Wondering how they hired this person for this job. Wondering if he really cleared his exams.” and “@Uppolice @dgpup why are these police harassing common people??? Why don’t you teach them the basics of the traffic system and about racing???”

If the rider feels that he was fined wrongfully, he can actually approach the court and challenge the fine.
