Bollywood’s ace director Sanjay Gupta is extremely passionate about motorcycles. Over the years, we have seen him add many interesting bikes to his collection- from adventure tourers to cruisers. Now, Gupta has made headlines again by acquiring an iconic motorcycle- the Harley Davidson Fat Boy. He shared pictures of it on his Instagram, sharing the joy with his followers.

These show the vehicle parked in his garage. It seems to be an older model. Several visual differences can be spotted, from the Fat Boy Gray Ghost revealed earlier this year. If so, Gupta might have sourced it from the pre-owned market. He seems to be very excited about the purchase and is ‘waiting to hit the road with it’.

Harley-Davidson motorcycles are indeed American icons and have starred in many Hollywood movies. The Fat Boy made an iconic appearance in the 1991 James Cameron movie Terminator 2: Judgment Day. It was seen in full glory, in an action-packed ‘canal chase’ sequence, which rose to instant acceptance and, over the years, developed a cult following.

Like many, Gupta also seems to have taken inspiration from this to finally own the motorcycle. Days after taking the bike home, he shared a video of this scene on his X (previously Twitter) handle. The Fat Boy isn’t his first Harley. A Heritage Classic 1500 that he bought in 2000 holds this title.

The Fat Boy is quite an old nameplate, first launched in 1990. Today, a limited edition model of this motorcycle is on sale, called the Gray Ghost. It slots in as the fifth model in Harley-Davidson’s ‘Icons Motorcycle Collection’. The Gray Ghost is in fact, a celebratory edition commemorating the model’s 35th anniversary.

It gets several cosmetic upgrades over the regular Fat Boy. It gets more reflective body panels, leather seat valance with lacing and tassels, Black leather tank strap, special badges and commemorative inserts, and Chrome side panels.
