Videos of people flexing their success and achievements often get massive viewership on various social media platforms. Manjula Patil, a content creator who goes by the name 'the_pretty_indian' on Instagram, recently shared a short-form video that shows how her mom shaped her journey from riding a humble Hero Honda CD 100 to riding a full-size BMW R1300 GS adventure motorcycle.

The Video

The clip opens by showing Manjula seated on a 20-year-old CD100. She struggles to kick-start it and is apparently learning to ride. Her mom soon shows up and helps her out in getting the vehicle started. We can see her adjust the choke and fuel tap. She then holds Manjula’s and the motorcycle as she learns to ride.

Soon after this, the video jumps to the present day. She shows up at the gate riding a BMW R1300 GS. She brings the butch adventure bike to a smooth stop and picks her mom up. The two then go for a ride. They aren’t wearing helmets, though. The same got netizens upset. Many pointed out the same in comments. Later portions of the video, however, show them with their helmets on.

In the video’s description, Manjula left a soulful note. It reads ‘19 years later... seat changed, love didn’t. She held my hands when I learned to ride. Today, I hold the throttle and take her along. Some bonds, some rides, only get stronger with time.’

Really a proud moment,’ commented a user while another remarked, ‘ Some reels feel good and your reels are doing very well’. Making things even more interesting, the official handle of BMW Motorrad India has also shown up with a comment. ‘Persistence makes the best rider,’- it said.

Manjula and her husband Praveen Hadimani bought the R1300 GS from a dealership in Bengaluru. The delivery video that they shared online has had over 1.6 million views so far. Manjula’s handle also had several other videos of her riding the adventure motorcycle. Many of these have had impressive viewership as well.

BMW Motorrad launched the R1300 GS in India last year. It then had an ex-showroom price of Rs 20.95 lakh. The 1300 GS came in via CBU (completely built-up unit) route, and was available in three variants- Style Triple Black, Style GS Trophy and 719 Tramuntana. It was 12 kilos lighter than the 1250 GS, owing to sheet metal changes and a lighter engine.

Powering the 1300 GS is a 1300cc, boxer twin that produces 145 hp and 149 Nm. The motorcycle also comes with bi-directional quick shifter and can do the 0-100 kph sprint in just 3.4 seconds. The top speed stands at 225 kph.

The equipment array on the motorcycle consists of matrix LED headlights with cornering function, electrically adjustable windshield, selectable ride modes, keyless ride and heated grips.

In addition to these, the range-topping Option 719 variant gets milled expansion tank lid, shift and foot brake levers, an adjustable suspension system, and adaptive cruise control. In India, the R 1300 GS competes with the Ducati Multistrada V4, Triumph Tiger 1200 GT Pro, and the Harley Davidson Pan America 1250. The motorcycle continues to be in production, and enjoys good demand.
