You never know what you might come across on the internet while scrolling through short videos in India. Each and every day, there comes a video which does not make a lot of sense but becomes viral overnight. Recently, another such video was shared online in which a girl was seen booking a bike taxi for just 180 meters. Yes, you heard that right! Now, the reason why would she book a taxi for such a short ride? Well, the following are the details.

Girl books a bike taxi for 180 meters

This video showing a girl booking a bike taxi for just 180 meters has been shared on X by Ghar ke Kalesh on their page. It starts off with an Ola bike taxi rider with a camera attached to his helmet for vlogs arriving at a pickup location. He then parks next to the girl who had booked the bike taxi and then asks her for the OTP to start the ride. To this, the girl replies that the OTP is 9844.

Following this, the bike taxi rider adds the OTP into the ride-hailing application and then opens the map to check the drop-off location. To his surprise, he then noted that the ride is only for 180 meters. So he immediately confirms the same with the girl, and she agrees. Soon after this, she highlights that generally there are a lot of stray dogs near the location. So, to avoid them, she has booked a bike taxi.

Following this, the rider starts the ride and takes a left turn, then a right turn, and again a left turn. Soon after this, they reach the location. It can be noted that there were no dogs on this particular occasion. However, it could be possible that there might be dogs in the same location at other times. The rider then drops off the girl and mentions that the payment amount is Rs 19 for the ride. The girl then makes the payment, and the rider leaves.

Netizens’ reactions

A number of netizens have reacted to this particular video. One of the comments stated, “Best use of technology and facilities. She could pass the road holding someone's hand but she chose to be empowered.” Meanwhile, another user added, “Dog bites are a significant public health issue in India. In 2024, approximately 22 lakh (2.2 million) dog bite cases were reported – largest in the world. Animal Welfare Organisations don’t help in reduction of number of stray dogs.”

Fear of dogs is real

A number of netizens have also highlighted that this particular video seems staged as there were no dogs on the road and not a lot of bike taxi riders have a vlogging camera attached to their helmet. However, a number of people have also stated that even if it is a staged video, similar things do happen in India. As for the topic of street dogs, some people supported this scenario.

They stated that there are a lot of stray dogs in India which at times attack unsuspecting humans crossing the road. There are people who really need assistance as they are very scared of dogs, and a lot of times they even freeze after seeing a lot of dogs barking at the same time.
