Gurugram Cops Take Bribe From Japanese Tourists: Suspended After Video Goes Viral

Corruption is sadly present almost everywhere, and we witness or become a part of it knowingly or unknowingly almost every day. Many government officials are corrupt, and when they are caught, strict action is taken against them as well. Here we have one such instance where a group of cops were suspended for taking a bribe, not from an Indian, but from Japanese tourists who were riding a bike without helmets.
The video has been shared by an X page called Deadly Kalesh. It was recorded by the Japanese tourist who was riding pillion on a Honda Activa scooter. It appears the pillion wasn’t wearing a helmet. As they took a U-turn, the cops on duty spotted the scooter and asked them to pull over. The tourist recording the video wasn’t sure why he was stopped. He even posted the video in a funny manner, saying he was pulled over because he didn’t look like an Indian.
As soon as they stopped, the cops told them it was because he was not wearing a helmet. The tourist cooperated, and one of the officers on duty tried to speak to him in English. The tourist understood he was at fault and was ready to pay without any argument.
He was told the fine was ₹1,000 for riding without a helmet. The Japanese tourist first asked if he could pay by card, but the cop denied it and told him to pay in cash. The tourist then took out two ₹500 notes, and as soon as he handed them over, the officer told him to leave.
The tourist was confused because he hadn’t been given any receipt. He paid the money and left. The officer can clearly be seen asking him to go, as he had no intention of issuing a receipt. The entire incident was captured on the camera the tourist was carrying. The cops didn’t notice it and were being recorded. It could also have been Meta glasses, which are currently gaining popularity.
The video was later posted online, and that’s when things got serious. It was shared with the caption:
“WTH! Gurugram cops took ₹1000 bribe from a Japanese tourist without even giving a receipt. This is how they ruin India’s image abroad.”
Once it went viral, the concerned authorities also came across it. Gurugram Police commented under the video:

If you are paying a fine to a cop, always ensure that you get a receipt-otherwise, the money is going straight into the officer’s pocket.
