Elderly Mechanic Does Donuts And Wheelies On A Yamaha RX100: Video Goes Viral

When it comes to passion for motorcycles or cars, age is just a number. No matter how old a true automotive enthusiast is, they still love the thrill of acceleration. Recently, the popular old mechanic from Mumbai who goes by Sattar Pilot shared another video of him riding an original Japanese Yamaha RX-100 after restoration. In this short clip, he can be seen doing wheelies and donuts with this legendary motorcycle.
This video of the Yamaha RX-100 doing wheelies and stunts has been shared on Instagram by Sattar Pilot on his channel. It starts off with the old man, who is also a professional mechanic and a true classic motorcycle enthusiast, popping a wheelie on the public road. He then comes in front of the camera and stops the bike before doing a 360-degree turn.
In the clip, the expert rider shows how brutally quick the original Yamaha RX-100 is. After the 360 turn, he goes to the other side of the main road and fully accelerates. We can note that despite the bike being decades old, it is still performing flawlessly. He then rides the bike back towards the camera and once again pops a small wheelie.
After riding the motorcycle on the public roads like a pro, the mechanic then shows the bike while it is parked. It can be noted that it is finished in the iconic Cherry Red color and has been given a modern aftermarket LED headlight. The mechanic also revs the bike to highlight the beautiful symphony from the exhaust of this motorcycle.
As mentioned by Sattar Pilot, this particular Yamaha RX-100 is not your average RX-100. It was one of the first original models that were brought from Japan as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit. Yamaha introduced the RX-100 in India back in November 1985. The bikes were brought via the CKD route and were assembled by Escorts Ltd.
What made the Japanese CKD RX-100 units unique was the embossing on the gearbox casing near the gear shift. Also, the initial batch of RX-100s was fitted with speedometer casings and dials with “Rajdoot” branding. This particular motorcycle came equipped with a 98cc, air-cooled, reed-valve, two-stroke, single-cylinder engine. It was capable of producing 11 bhp and 10.4 Nm of torque.
Transmission duties were handled by a 4-speed constant mesh gearbox. As the bike was super lightweight, it could accelerate from 0-60 kmph in just 7 seconds. It could also reach a top speed of 100-110 kmph. The bike was known for its nimble, extremely aggressive, and racy ride. It was very quick in acceleration, which increased the thrill of riding, as other bikes in India were very lethargic.
The CKD version of the Yamaha RX-100 was offered in unique color options. These included Cherry Red, Peacock Blue-Green, and Metallic Black. Later models also received new color options, including Maroon, Silver, Wine Red, and a few shades of Blue. Even today, these bikes are loved by many people, and they are now being restored as they offer pure analogue fun which modern bikes cannot provide.
