Most of us have visited the well of death or “maut ka kua” at the local fair, right? It is easily one of the biggest crowd-pullers of any fair. People love watching the exhilarating stunts that are pulled off by the performers inside it. One of the most popular stunts is of a bike rider riding inside the well of death, standing on its sides, and doing other tricks. Unfortunately, recently one such biker fell off the bike while performing stunts. However, what’s shocking is that the bike was seen riding inside the well for hours after he had fallen.

Bike continued riding in the well of death

This video, showing the bike riding inside the well of death without its rider, has been shared on X by Ghar ke Kalesh on their page. This short video clip first shows a bike riding in the well without a rider. Soon after this, we can see that the rider was at the bottom of the well, where his colleagues were pulling him toward the center. As per the reports it took place in Maharajganj district of Uttar Pradesh.

There were two Maruti Suzuki 800s parked at the bottom of the well, and the colleagues of the stunt rider were trying to get him between the two cars. This was being done to protect the rider as well as themselves from getting hit by the bike in case it came down. What also happens in the video is that the people at the bottom were asking all the spectators to immediately come down from the viewing spot.

They wanted to make sure that the spectators did not get hurt by the bike if it came out of the well while riding. We can observe that the people were rushing to go down to save themselves. Meanwhile, the bike continued riding. Thankfully, it has been reported that the bike did not hurt anyone, and as for the rider who fell down, he only suffered some minor injuries.

How did the bike continue riding without a biker?

Now, for those who may be wondering how the bike continued riding in the well of death, here is the explanation. The well of death works on the principle of centripetal force. This means that when an object (in the case of the well of death—bikes and cars) moves at a high speed on a curved vertical surface, the centrifugal effect keeps the object pinned against the walls.

Now, in the case of the well of death, the bikes and the cars are kept in low gears and their accelerators are turned all the way. This is done to create momentum. As a result of this, riders leave the handlebars and the steering wheels of the bikes and cars and perform stunts for the public to enjoy.

Well of Death, and the lack of safety

It goes without saying that the term "well of death" or “maut ka kua” is true to an extent. There is always an inherent risk of the stunt performers dying if anything goes wrong. Thankfully, in this case, the rider survived. However, over the years, there have been many instances where people have lost their lives in the well of death.
