The video of the slipper clutch upgrade on popular Royal Enfield 350cc bikes has been shared on YouTube by Foar Vlogs on their channel. It starts off with the host mentioning that he will be finally upgrading the clutch of his Meteor 350 with a slipper clutch. He highlights that this upgrade is compatible with other popular models such as the Classic 350 and Hunter 350.

Differences between normal and slipper clutch

Following the introduction, the host starts showing the difference between the standard clutch and the slipper clutch sold by Royal Enfield. He shows the part number of the normal clutch and mentions that it is priced at Rs 3,300. After this, he shows that this clutch comes with six plates and springs.

He then starts showing the slipper clutch assembly with the pressure plate installed in it. The host adds that it comes with five plates and separate compressible plates. As for the pricing, he mentions that the slipper clutch assembly costs Rs 4,950 and includes the counter gear. The host then starts highlighting why the slipper clutch is better than the standard clutch.

standard vs slipper clutch installation

The presenter states that the old counter gears on the standard clutch can lead to a "clunking" sound during gear shifts due to loose springs. The slipper clutch, on the other hand, is much more durable and long-lasting. Its unique cutouts and separate plates absorb jerks, which the regular clutch cannot.

Other benefits of the slipper clutch stated by the presenter include the elimination of sudden jerks during rapid downshifts. He also adds that it takes approximately half the effort to operate, and it provides 50 percent smoother clutch engagement. This main difference gets highlighted in heavy traffic conditions. Also, it helps in the reduction of stalling, and the overall riding experience gets enhanced.

After this, the presenter shows the original clutch, and the technician starts removing the bolts holding the clutch in place. Finally, the complete clutch assembly is removed, including the old counter gear. The technician then starts the installation of the new slipper clutch assembly. At last, the bike gets tested on the road.

The owner mentions that the acceleration of his bike has increased significantly, and it now feels like a brand-new motorcycle. He then introduces another person who highlights that the fitting charge for the clutch is Rs 400 and the cost of the slipper clutch is Rs 4,950.
