TVS Motor Company has confirmed that the NTorq 150 will launch on September 4, 2025. The new model marks TVS’s entry into the fast-growing 150–160cc performance scooter segment, expanding on the popularity of the NTorq 125 that has led the sporty 125cc scooter category since 2018.

Positioned Against Strong Rivals

The NTorq 150 is aimed at riders looking for more power and features in a scooter. It will compete directly with established models such as the Yamaha Aerox 155, Hero Xoom 160 and Aprilia SR 175.

Yamaha alone sold nearly 23,000 Aerox units in FY2025, reflecting rising demand for higher-displacement scooters. TVS is expected to price the NTorq 150 in the same range as its competitors, between ₹1.49 lakh and ₹1.51 lakh (ex-showroom).

This segment has grown rapidly among young professionals and enthusiasts who want a mix of performance and practicality, and TVS will be looking to secure a share of this expanding market.

Design and Features

Early teasers show a bold quad-LED headlamp design with a split housing, giving the NTorq 150 a sharp and aggressive look that still ties it to the smaller NTorq. The larger displacement also allows for new features that the 125cc version cannot offer, such as higher top speeds and improved acceleration for highway use.

While engine specifications are yet to be revealed, expectations centre around a 150cc motor producing 12–15 hp. A key decision will be whether TVS opts for air cooling to keep costs down or liquid cooling to deliver higher performance.

Mandatory safety regulations mean the scooter will come with at least single-channel ABS as standard. Other features likely to carry over from the NTorq 125 include smartphone connectivity, navigation integration and a digital instrument console. TVS may also add premium touches such as traction control, ride modes or upgraded suspension to stand out in the premium scooter space.

Wheel size may also be a differentiator, with the possibility of 14-inch wheels for better ride quality and stability compared to the 12-inch setup on the 125. This would improve high-speed handling and make the scooter more versatile on varied road surfaces.

Engineering and Production

The development of the NTorq 150 involves balancing performance with cost and efficiency. Engineers must deliver competitive power while meeting emission norms and ensuring reliability. Extensive testing for durability, real-world performance and compliance will form part of the validation process, much like TVS’s other products.

Manufacturing preparations are already underway, with production lines and suppliers being readied to meet anticipated demand. Given the NTorq 125’s success, TVS is likely preparing for high initial volumes, especially since the launch coincides with the festive season, traditionally a peak time for two-wheeler sales.

What It Means for the Market

The arrival of the NTorq 150 will intensify competition in the 150–160cc scooter segment, pushing other manufacturers to respond with updates or price adjustments. However, TVS has some advantages, including its wide dealership network and strong after-sales service, which can help the new scooter gain traction quickly.

Consumer research shows that buyers in this category want performance scooters that still remain practical with good storage, comfortable seating and fuel efficiency. Success for the NTorq 150 will depend on TVS striking this balance while offering a competitive price.

If the NTorq 150 proves successful, it could establish TVS as a serious player in the premium scooter space, complementing its stronghold in the 125cc market and expanding its reach into higher-capacity two-wheelers.
