Real-Life Mission Impossible? Vietnamese Man Pulls Off Tom Cruise-Like Jump To Escape Crash

Tom Cruise has been pushing his limits in each instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise. We saw him scale the world's tallest building- Burj Khalifa, hang off a flying military cargo plane, and pull off insane stunts on the streets of Rome, with an all-electric Fiat 500. While many of these stunts could seem impossible to pull off in real life, a Vietnamese man recently took the internet by storm by performing a jump that closely resembles the one that the American actor often does in his movies!
This story stems from a video that's now going viral on various social media platforms. It looks like surveillance camera footage from Vietnam. We can see a small canal and bridge to the right of the visual. Three men are seen approaching the bridge on what looks like a scooter (or a moped). The vehicle seems to carry a decent speed.
For some reason, the rider doesn't slow down even when the bike enters the crossroads. A van- a Suzuki Omni- is seen approaching from the other side. It is about to turn left, seeing that the scooter rider flicks the bike to the opposite side. He soon loses complete control of the vehicle and heads towards the stream. It even brushes on the bridge's fence.
Seeing the oncoming danger, the man who is seated at the rear end of the two-wheeler acts quickly and jumps out of the vehicle. He got a hold on the bridge's iron railing, and soon gets to safety by swinging onto it.
His escape plan looks dramatic on camera, and many soon started comparing it to the stunts performed by Tom Cruise in his movies. The two-wheeler and its two occupants ended up in the stream!
The insane stunts that you see in movies are often choreographed, rehearsed and perfected before the actual filming. This guy, however, did not do any of those, and delivered an excellent act, out of nowhere- this deserves extra rounds of applause! As one of the comments reads 'That motorbike gave up, but he didn’t'.
Though many see the man's act as a display of skills, it could have caused damage to the public infrastructure. According to Vietnamese laws, any such damage could result in fines and other penalties.
We don't know what happened to the three after the two-wheeler crashed into the stream. The man who pulled off this stunt seems to be safe.
The internet was amused by the video. The quick thinking and sharp reflexes of the man saved him from the crash. Netizens appreciated the same. 'Bro doesn’t have reflexes. Reflexes have him.' commented a user. “That wasn’t luck, that was instinct"- pointed out a user.
If you look closely at the video, you would see that the guy didn't even lose his phone in the act. It was butter-smooth! The internet seems to have noticed this as well. “He was really smooth. Didn’t want to get his feet wet!!”
The video has racked up over four million views so far. Some feel the guy deserves more than just praise on social media. “Where is the Guinness World Record? This guy needs a trophy,”- reads a playful comment.
This scene indeed seems unusual. It is, however, a powerful reminder of how sharp reflexes and quick thinking can sometimes be lifesavers! It also underlines that the wildest movie moments may not always be impossible to pull off in real life.
