Once in a while, we come across a video that gives everyone goosebumps. In most of these videos, we think that the person who was in it might not have survived. However, sometimes miracles happen, and they come out alive. Recently, a video has become viral on the internet in which a live electricity pole fell on a scooter rider in Delhi. Thankfully, despite the electric pole falling directly on this female rider, she escaped only with minor injuries.

The CCTV footage showing this terrifying incident has been shared on YouTube by NDTV on their channel. According to the reports, this particular incident took place in Tagore Garden Area in West Delhi (AD Block) on 29th July at around 5:30 PM. What happened was a man on a scooter was seen riding in front of a Hyundai Santro.

Soon after this, what we can note is that there were two electric poles that started leaning towards the road. Both of these poles had a number of live wires. Following this, just when the Santro crossed these two poles, they fell down. Unfortunately, at this exact moment, a woman on a scooter came underneath and was crushed by one of the two poles.

People came to the rescue

The video clip then shows that just after this happened, the woman was alone on the road for a brief moment. However, when people around her noticed what had happened, they immediately rushed to help her. It can also be seen that people were hesitating a bit to go near her due to the electricity pole carrying live wires, but then they eventually reached her. Unfortunately, there is not a longer clip showing her rescue.

She could have died

It goes without saying that this was an extremely nerve-wracking situation. This woman is extremely lucky, as in most cases, electricity can kill a person if it comes in contact. However, in this case, the woman was saved. It has been reported that she only suffered some minor injuries. Many local people living in the area have also highlighted that there are other similar old and dangerous electricity poles in the area.

Not the first time

The above incident is not the first time that poor infrastructure has jeopardized the lives of common people. Last year, it was reported that a boundary wall of Gokulpuri Metro Station in Delhi collapsed and fell onto the road. Unfortunately, in this particular incident, a man named Vinod Kumar, aged 53, died. Meanwhile, a man named Ajit Kumar was trapped under the debris.

Additionally, three other people suffered minor injuries. At the time, police authorities, firefighters, and emergency personnel quickly arrived at the scene. It was reported that soon after this incident took place, two DMRC officials, including a manager and a junior engineer from the civil department, were suspended.

As for the compensation, Rs 25 lakh was awarded to the family of the deceased, and Rs 5 lakh was provided to the seriously injured person. Additionally, Rs 1 lakh each was given to the three people who suffered minor injuries. Over the years, there have been numerous similar cases where poor infrastructure and its maintenance have cost citizens their lives. Unfortunately, there seems to be no noted solution for negligence from the authorities.
