2025 Kawasaki Z900 Launched: India's Best-selling Superbike Gets A Big Update

Kawasaki has launched the 2025 version of its popular Z900 in India at ₹9.52 lakh (ex-showroom). While the price is up by ₹14,000 compared to the outgoing model, the update brings several meaningful improvements that enhance both the bike's performance and usability.
The Z900 has built a reputation as one of the most successful premium motorcycles in India. In April 2025 alone, Kawasaki sold 102 units, a significant rise from the 44 units in March, reflecting continued interest among enthusiasts. Much of this appeal lies in the Z900's accessible performance, engaging power delivery, and inline-four soundtrack that remains a rarity at this price point.
The 2025 update retains the fundamentals but sharpens the bike’s appearance and rider interface. The LED headlamp has been redesigned in line with Kawasaki's evolving aesthetic, drawing cues from the smaller Z500. Minor styling updates across the bodywork give the motorcycle a more aggressive and cohesive look without straying too far from the established identity.
The most notable changes are in the electronics package. A ride-by-wire throttle has been introduced, enabling the inclusion of cruise control for the first time on this platform. The addition of a bidirectional quick-shifter also improves ride experience during both daily commutes and spirited weekend rides.
Kawasaki has added a 5-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), which enables advanced safety features such as lean-sensitive ABS and enhanced traction control. These systems adjust in real time based on riding conditions, helping maintain stability and rider confidence on varied terrain. The bike also comes with selectable riding modes to match power delivery and electronic intervention to different weather or road conditions.
The instrument console is now a 5-inch full-colour TFT unit, replacing the older display. The new screen supports Bluetooth connectivity, allowing riders to access phone notifications and navigation prompts. Updated switchgear enhances functionality and gives the cockpit a cleaner, more premium feel.
The familiar 948cc inline-four engine continues to power the Z900, but it has been retuned to meet the latest emission standards. Peak output now stands at 123 Bhp, a slight dip from the previous 125 Bhp, but Kawasaki has improved low-end torque and fuel economy by around 16 percent. Peak torque remains unchanged at 98 Nm. These changes make the bike better suited to real-world use without compromising its character.
Braking performance sees a step forward with the use of radially mounted four-piston Nissin calipers. These replace the earlier axial units, offering better feedback and stopping power. New Dunlop Sportmax Q5A tyres provide better grip and agility compared to the outgoing Roadsport 2s.
At ₹9.52 lakh, the Z900 continues to offer considerable value in the middleweight performance segment. The new features and equipment justify the price increase and keep the model competitive in a field that now includes multiple feature-rich alternatives.
With over 1,000 units sold in 2024, the Z900 remained the best-selling superbike in India, and the 2025 version appears well positioned to maintain that lead. It strikes a balance between performance, practicality, and technology that few others in this segment manage as effectively.
The 2025 Kawasaki Z900 is available in two colour options and can be purchased through authorised dealerships nationwide. For riders seeking a refined, feature-rich motorcycle that delivers on both thrill and usability, the Z900 remains a benchmark offering.
