Yamaha has launched India's first hybrid motorcycle- the Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid, with an ex-showroom price of 1.45 lakh. This, if you see, is Rs 10,000-14,000 more than the price of the non-hybrid FZ-S Fi and Deluxe variants. In addition to the hybrid powertrain, the motorcycle also gets a number of new features as well. It was previously showcased at the Bharat Mobility Expo 2025.

2025 Yamaha FZ-S Fi Hybrid: What's New?

To start with, Yamaha has introduced On-Board Diagnostics (OBD-2B) compliance on the new FZ-S Fi Hybrid. The motorcycle also features integrated turn indicator lamps at the front. These now sit within the air intake area. Plus, the bike also gets a 4.2 inch full-colour TFT instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity. You can pair your device using the Y-Connect app.

Other notable additions are Turn-by-Turn (TBT) navigation linked to Google Maps, offering real-time directions, navigation index, intersection details, and road names.

The biggest highlight is the engine. At the heart of this motorcycle is a 149-cc Blue Core engine which now gets Yamaha's Smart Motor Generator (SMG) and Stop & Start System (SSS). The SMG is claimed to offer slight performance boosts for short spans of time. A similar system can be seen on the new TVS Jupiter 110. Similar systems can be seen on several Yamaha scooters as well. This is the first time that we get to find this on a motorcycle.

Courtesy of its hybrid technology, this engine features quieter starts, battery-assisted acceleration, and improved fuel efficiency. The hybrid tech shuts the engine off at idle and restarts when it senses a quick clutch action. Yamaha hasn't however, revealed the claimed fuel efficiency yet.

The manufacturer also says that the hybrid FZ-S Fi's handlebar position has been optimised for added comfort on long rides. The switches have been slightly adjusted to maximise accessibility, even while wearing gloves.

The horn switch has been repositioned for easier reach and better ergonomics. The fuel tank has a capacity of 13 litres and now has an aeroplane-style fuel cap that doesn't come off while refuelling. It remains attached to the tank. Two colours are on offer on the FZ-S hybrid- Racing Blue and Cyan Metallic Grey.
