Anand Mahindra was aware of this and in 2016 he got a call from the previous owner of the BSA telling him that BSA brand was up for sale and was Mahindra interested in it. Anand Mahindra was interested and so was some other Indian manufacturer. Both Mahindra and the other brand showcased their interest and unfortunately, the deal initially went to the other brand.

Anand Mahindra called Anupam Thareja and told that they lost the deal. After this, things went back to normal and after 6 months, Anand Mahindra gets a call from BSA’s owner telling that the other brand who bagged the deal was taking too much time and was Mahindra still interested. Anand Mahindra wasted no time and called Anupam and closed the deal within 48 hours. That is how Mahindra owned Classic Legends bought the BSA motorcycles brand.
