Great News For Aprilia RS457 And Tuono Owners: Details

Aprilia has recently been facing a lot of heat after a slew of RS457 owners started reporting serious mechanical and electric issues with their motorcycles. Many took to social media detailing these and news outlets including us carries these stories. Now, the manufacturer has announced some major reforms in its warranty policies- a move that could benefit the owners of the Tuono 457 and RS 457.
The RS457 and Tuono 457 now come with a standard warranty of four years or 48,000 kilometres. Making the deal sweeter, the warranty is now transferable. Previously, these were available with a 3-year or 36,000-kilometre warranty (whichever came first), and the same was applicable only to the first owner of these vehicles. The revision makes the subsequent owners eligible for warranty coverage. The additional warranty comes at no extra cost, and the vehicle price continues to stand at Rs 4.20 lakh (ex-showroom)
The extended warranty will cover all the repair costs arising from manufacturing or assembly defects. It will also cover the replacement of faulty components with genuine parts and the associated labour costs.
Clearly, the warranty extension is part of the manufacturer's response towards the issues presented by RS 457 owners. Addressing these, Aprilia had previously issued a statement, in which they attributed them to 'unauthorised aftermarket modifications and irregular service schedules'.
The statement read "A majority of these “issues” are attributed to only two factors - Unauthorized Aftermarket Modifications and Irregular Service Schedules. For the few genuine cases that arose, we promptly addressed and resolved them in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to our customers.
For riders seeking to enhance their stock RS 457, we strongly encourage the installation of our extensive range of genuine aftermarket accessories, available exclusively through authorized Aprilia service centers. The Aprilia RS 457 platform embodies the excitement and pure riding pleasure. It deserves to be enjoyed responsibly and maintained exclusively by certified technicians at authorized Aprilia dealerships.
The company is equally responsible and proactive in - ensuring best-in-class after-sales and service and stands firmly by the side of every Aprilia owner. Moreover, we give our 100 percent assurance that all products sold through our authorized dealerships are in optimal condition, free from any inherent issues, and meet our stringent quality standards.”
The warranty revision is indeed a blessing for owners. Since it has now been made transferrable, the buyer will benefit when the motorcycle is sold. More people will now be confident to buy the 457s. This means that the resale value will not face a decline. If the resale value of a product slumps, the actual sales could also take a hit. If this happens, the resale value will fall further. If this cycle goes unobstructed, the product will soon die. The revision has thus instilled more confidence in buyers and pumped life into the 457 duo.
Aprilia seems to be working on addressing the customer grievances and had previously commenced full engine replacements on some of the affected motorcycles. Going forward, these would be covered under warranty.
The RS 457 was launched in India, in December 2023. It instantly rose to acceptance with its striking design, powerful performance and likeable packaging. The kit on the 457 series included three riding modes, three levels of switchable traction control, and dual-channel ABS. The naked counterpart Tuono 457 was introduced in February 2025.
The 457 cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine on these motorcycles is a newly developed unit. It makes 47 bhp and 48 Nm of torque, and comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
