Soon-To-Be-Launched Aprilia SR175 Reaches Dealerships: Details

The Italian superbike manufacturer Aprilia will soon be launching its top-of-the-line performance scooter — the SR 175 — in India. Recently, a video showing this upcoming scooter after arriving at an Aprilia dealership has been shared online. A number of its details have now been revealed, and most likely it will be launched this month.
The video showing the Aprilia SR 175 performance scooter has been shared on YouTube by Skelism on their channel. In the video, we can note the Aprilia 175 without any covers, as it is the final production version which will be sold via the retail outlets. This particular scooter is finished in the Aprilia RS 457-inspired white and red color combination.
Starting off with the main highlight of the Aprilia SR 175, which is its engine. This upcoming scooter will sit on top of the brand's scooter lineup. It will come powered by a 174.7cc, 3-valve, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. It will be capable of producing 12.92 bhp at 7,200 rpm. As for the torque, it will make 14.14 Nm at 6,000 rpm.
When compared to the SR 160, which is currently available, there is an increase from 11.27 bhp and 13.44 Nm. This will translate into improved acceleration and torque. It has been reported that the extra displacement has been achieved by increasing the bore while maintaining the same fundamental engine layout as the SR 160.
Now, coming to the feature upgrades of the Aprilia SR 175 over the SR 160, it will be offered with a brand-new full-color TFT instrument cluster. This is the same screen which we have already seen on the RS 457 and Tuono 457. Other highlights of this scooter include Bluetooth smartphone connectivity via Aprilia’s official app.
It also features turn-by-turn navigation, call and music controls, and vehicle notifications. Currently, the SR 160 and the SXR scooters offer an outdated LCD screen.
Now, coming to the design of the Aprilia SR 175, from an overall appearance it looks very similar to the SR 160. However, there are some major differences, mainly with the color scheme. The new SR 175 will be offered in RS 457-inspired colors, which are white with red and purple with red combinations.
Apart from that, the SR 175 gets similar sharp body panels, a front apron-mounted headlamp, and an edgy scooped seat. Other notable highlights include 14-inch alloy wheels with wide 120-section tyres, telescopic front forks, rear monoshock, and front disc/rear drum braking setup. It also gets single-channel ABS as well.
Currently, the Aprilia SR 160 starts at Rs 1.32 lakh and goes up to Rs 1.42 lakh. It is believed that the pricing of the SR 175 will be similar to the current model, at around Rs 1.31 lakh. As for the official launch, most likely it will take place this month, as the dealerships have already started receiving the SR 175s.
In other Aprilia news, the company recently released a brand-new TVC featuring its latest naked streetfighter motorcycle, the Tuono 457, along with its brand ambassador and Bollywood star John Abraham. The actor was seen taking the Tuono 457 on a spirited test ride through the busy streets of Mumbai.
