Aprilia has launched a new limited-edition scooter in India, the SR-GP Replica 175, priced at Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom). This special variant builds on the SR 175 hp-e but stands out with MotoGP-inspired graphics and styling that directly reference Aprilia’s factory racing machines.

MotoGP-Inspired Styling

The SR-GP Replica sets itself apart visually with a matte black base, layered with bold red and purple graphics identical to Aprilia’s RS-GP MotoGP bikes. The Aprilia logo stretches diagonally across the body, while rider race numbers add authenticity to the design.

Details like red rim stripes on the blacked-out 14-inch alloy wheels, a matte black grab rail, and a darkened footboard keep the design consistent. Together, these elements turn the SR-GP Replica into a scooter that echoes Aprilia’s track presence.

Same Mechanical Package

Underneath, the Replica is mechanically unchanged from the SR 175 hp-e. It uses a 174.7cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 13.26 PS at 7,200 rpm and 14.14 Nm at 6,000 rpm. The three-valve SOHC motor runs with a 9.5:1 compression ratio and meets BS6 Phase 2 norms.

A CVT automatic gearbox handles transmission duties, keeping acceleration smooth and predictable. Aprilia claims a top speed of 95 kmph, making it capable enough for both daily city runs and short highway trips.

Features

The scooter carries forward the feature set of the SR 175 hp-e. A 5.5-inch colour TFT display serves as the main interface, offering Bluetooth pairing, navigation support, call and SMS alerts, and roadside assistance integration.

LED units are used across the lighting system, from the headlamp to the indicators, giving better visibility and a modern look. Practical features include underseat storage, a USB charging port, and a service-due indicator. Safety is supported by single-channel ABS with a combined braking system, while suspension is handled by a telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock.

Pricing and Rivals

The SR-GP Replica costs Rs 3,000–4,000 more than the standard SR 175 hp-e, aimed at buyers who want the racing-themed design. Its positioning puts it against performance scooters like the Yamaha Aerox 155, though Aprilia’s MotoGP connection gives it a distinctive edge in terms of identity.

The premium scooter market has grown more competitive, with buyers increasingly drawn to models that stand out through design and performance. Aprilia’s strategy with the Replica is to serve this demand for exclusivity without changing the proven mechanical setup.

On-Road Performance

Fuel efficiency figures range from 35–42 kmpl depending on riding conditions. While not class-leading, it balances economy with performance for city riders. The 175cc motor delivers usable torque for traffic and responsive handling at low speeds, while still being able to cruise near 95 kmph when required.

The scooter’s balance of performance, features, and sporty styling places it as a practical yet aspirational choice for those who want a premium scooter that looks like a MotoGP machine.
