Wrong-side driving is a menace on Indian roads, and we have come across several instances in the past where this irresponsible behavior has caused chaos on the road. Cops have installed surveillance cameras and AI cameras in different parts of the city, but this attitude never seems to end. We have seen people react to such behavior in the past, and here we have one such video where an electric scooter rider on the wrong side of the road gets slapped by an Army man for blocking traffic.
The video has been circulating on various social media platforms. The video is from Karnataka, and it was recorded by a car’s dashcam. We see the car crossing an intersection after the signal turned green. The car, along with other vehicles, was moving forward. As the car was about to get to the other side of the road, we see a two-wheeler rider coming from the wrong side of the road.
He was right in front of the car and stopped the two-wheeler. He was sticking to the median and was shamelessly asking the car driver to drive around him. The car driver stopped and waited for the rider to either go back or move away on his own. The electric scooter rider was not in the mood to ride away and was continuously asking the car driver to go around.
It was very evident from the start that the rider was at fault, but these things are now so common on roads that the biker didn’t even realize his mistake. In fact, he was bullying the car driver and asking him to drive around the scooter. While all this was happening, we see an Army truck waiting for the signal in the opposite lane.
The driver of the Army truck witnessed the whole incident and decided to react. He jumped out of the truck, approached the rider, and slapped him from the back. The biker was not expecting anything like this to happen. He started arguing with the Army officer, which gave the officer more reasons to take action. He went back to the truck and returned with a cane.
By the time he came back, a lady traffic police officer approached the scooter rider and started scolding him. The Army officer was also shouting at the biker and asked him to turn around.
The video ends abruptly, and it looks like the biker finally went away. We are not sure if the traffic police officer on duty took note of the vehicle number and issued a challan for wrong-side riding.
The rider was clearly trying to act smart by riding on the wrong side of the road and avoiding all the vehicles waiting for the signal in front of him. He probably did that to reduce the waiting time and also to come and stop at the front so that he could move first when the signal turned green.
This is illegal, and the rider could have easily caused an accident. This is an irresponsible behaaviour and the rider was creating inconvenience to other road users in this case. The car driver sat inside his vehicle without reacting to the situation, avoiding making things worse for both him and the rider.
