Ather 450X Electric Scooter Owner Does 1.1 Lakh Kms In Just 3 Years: Battery Replaced At 57,000 Kms

A number of people have adopted electric scooters and cars in India. However, there are still a number of people who think that the long-term ownership of EVs is not great. Recently, proving all the skepticism wrong, a video has been shared online. In this ownership review video, an owner of an Ather 450X electric scooter provides insights into his three years of ownership of this EV scooter. He stated that so far, he has done multiple long rides and a lot of city commuting, and the total mileage on his scooter is an astonishing 1.1 lakh km.
This video of the Ather 450X owner sharing all the details of his ownership experience has been shared on YouTube by Green Ride on their channel. It starts off with the vlogger mentioning that he will be interviewing the Ather 450X owner who has ridden it over 1.1 lakh km in just three years. Following this introduction, the vlogger then starts talking with the owner.
He first asks him about the purchase date and his decision to buy the Ather 450X. To this, the owner replied that he bought it back in August of 2021 and initially bought it for daily commuting and occasional long rides. At the time of purchase, his daily commute was 110 km, which was for his office. He then calculated that he would spend ₹12,000 per month on fuel for an ICE scooter.
So he then decided that he would buy an EV scooter. His budget, which initially started at ₹50,000, then went up to ₹1.25 lakh, and finally, he bought his scooter for ₹1.5 lakh. The owner highlighted that he test-drove around 25-30 scooters across numerous brands before finalizing Ather.
Following this, the vlogger asked about the mileage on the scooter's odometer. To this, he replied that in the last three years, he has put around 1.1 lakh km on it. He highlighted that some days he rides it for 300-350 km, and on some days, he only rides 30 km. After this, he mentioned that he has done multiple long journeys, including once going from Coimbatore to Delhi, twice to Goa, and around 10-15 times to Kanyakumari.
During this conversation, he highlighted that he usually takes his portable charger with him and also relies on the fast-charging grid of Ather. He mentioned that back when he bought the scooter, the Ather grid was not as extensive. As a result, he had to wait for a long time at small stops to charge his electric scooter to 80 percent, which would give him a range of 60-65 km.
He then added that before going on any long drive, he first used to map out the route to ensure that his charging was seamless. However, the owner then mentioned that when he started his first long ride to Goa, all of his plans failed. As a result, he now only thinks of the next stop and how he can charge the scooter.
During the conversation, the owner also highlighted the problems with his scooter. He mentioned that his back used to hurt due to the poor seat cushioning. As a result, he had to upgrade his seat. He added that he has even bought an aftermarket cushion to help with his lower back pain. Apart from this, he added that he faced issues with the company-fitted tires.
He mentioned that he upgraded the tires from MRF to Michelin, and the experience is now much better, and they last him around 35,000 km. As for the battery, he has replaced it once after driving for 57,000 km. The owner highlighted that before degradation, his range was 100 km, which then went down to 35 km.
As for the service, the owner highlighted that he services his scooter at intervals between 9,000 to 10,200 km consistently. The owner also mentioned that to increase the longevity of the battery pack, he now charges the scooter when it reaches 20 percent and only charges it up to 80 percent.
