When it comes to automakers, no manufacturer is perfect, and all of them have a number of angry customers. These customers, when they get frustrated after trying to work things out, raise their issues on social media to get a solution. Recently, one such frustrated Ather Energy customer shared his issue on the internet.

frustrated ather owner wants to buy ola

He stated that the Ather dealership is not interested in helping him buy a Rizta. So instead, he is planning to buy Ather’s main rival—Ola Electric’s scooter.

The frustrated Ather Energy customer, Gokhulakannan KG, via his X account, shared how he is being poorly treated by the showroom staff. In his post, he stated, “I’ve been a loyal Ather 350X owner for the past year, but after witnessing the recent Rizta launch, I was eager to upgrade.”

He then stated that he started contacting the Ather dealership. However, even after a month of trying to get information from the Anaamalais Ather dealership, he could not get anyone to help him. He stated that this “experience has been nothing short of infuriating.”

Ather dealership not responding

The Ather customer highlighted that the sales team’s behavior has been very poor and they have been consistently ignoring his calls. He added that they have been refusing to provide him with even the basic details. The current owner of an Ather scooter stated that he asked them for the exchange value and the on-road price for the Rizta.

However, the sales team has not responded to him yet. In his post, he stated, “It is almost as if they’re intentionally trying to avoid selling me a new bike just because I’m looking to trade in my Ather 350X.”

He concluded by stating, “This entire experience has left a bitter taste, and I’ve had enough. I’m now planning to exchange my bike for an Ola Electric instead. Great job, Ather! Keep up the stellar customer service—your competition is about to gain another customer.”

Ather’s response

Presently, the company has not highlighted this issue. However, it did leave a comment on the post of the frustrated Ather owner. It stated, “This seems out of the ordinary, Gokhulakannan. Rest assured, at Ather, we’re dedicated to making things right for you. Kindly send us your registered contact number and email ID via DM, and we’ll swiftly address this issue.”

Is it Ather Energy’s fault?

From what we can understand, it does not seem like a problem that has been directly caused by Ather. We say this because, like all the other automakers, Ather Energy also relies on dealerships for the sale of their vehicles.

As mentioned in the post, it appears to be the fault of the Ather dealership and not the company. Yes, we do understand that Ather Energy needs to do something to solve this issue. However, pinning the blame on the automaker for a fault from the dealership is not fair.

Ather vs Ola

The person in the post has highlighted that due to this poor behavior from the Ather staff, he is now all set to make his shift to Ola Electric, the EV two-wheeler brand that is currently the largest in India. Now, if you ask which of the two brands is better, you’ll find mixed reactions. Some say that Ola Electric is better, while some say that Ather Energy is better.

What we would say is that although the service and experience should be the same for everyone, that rarely happens in India, and two people owning a vehicle from the same brand could have different opinions. So we suggest that before you make the final decision, be sure as to which vehicle and which manufacturer offers everything that you are looking for.
