Why KTM And Triumph Are Now Offering A 10-Year Warranty On Their Flagship 400cc Motorcycles

In a bold new push to win over buyers in the fiercely competitive mid-capacity motorcycle market, Bajaj Auto has announced a 10-year warranty for two of its headline products - the KTM 390 Duke and Triumph's 400cc motorcycles. This scheme applies to purchases made on or before June 30, 2025, and is aimed at boosting customer confidence and long-term brand loyalty.
Traditionally, most motorcycles in this segment come with a standard 2-year warranty, with an optional extended warranty that can take the coverage up to five years. Bajaj’s new initiative goes far beyond that norm by offering a 10-year coverage upfront. This consists of a 5-year standard warranty followed by a 5-year extended warranty, both bundled into the price of the motorcycle.
Crucially, this warranty is fully transferable. So if the owner decides to sell the motorcycle, the remaining coverage continues with the new buyer. This not only protects the initial customer but also enhances resale value, offering a strong reason for potential second-hand buyers to consider KTM or Triumph models over rivals.
KTM’s 390 Duke has long held a cult following among enthusiasts thanks to its explosive performance, razor-sharp handling, and aggressive design. Its latest iteration continues to offer segment-leading features such as cornering ABS, a bi-directional quickshifter, traction control, riding modes, and even cruise control, amenities usually reserved for far more expensive bikes.
At its heart is a 399cc single-cylinder engine that delivers a punchy 45.3 PS and 39 Nm of torque. What this warranty now adds to the equation is the assurance that this high-performance machine is also engineered to last. Whether you’re an urban rider or a weekend canyon carver, the 390 Duke now appeals just as much to the head as it does to the heart.
Triumph’s 400cc range, which includes the Speed 400, Scrambler 400 X, and Speed T4, was designed to offer something for everyone from spirited road rides to mild off-road adventures. All three bikes share a 398cc single-cylinder engine but are tuned for different riding personalities.
The Speed 400 and Scrambler 400 X offer 40 PS and 37.5 Nm of torque, giving them strong real-world performance, while the Speed T4, positioned as a more easy-going commuter, makes 31 PS and 36 Nm. Features such as ride-by-wire throttle, switchable traction control, and dual-channel ABS add to the appeal, making this trio stand out in both form and function.
Now, the extended 10-year warranty adds another layer of credibility. Riders who were on the fence about buying into a relatively newer range can now be reassured by the manufacturer’s confidence in its own engineering.
This isn’t just a customer-centric gesture. It’s also a sharp strategic play by Bajaj to position KTM and Triumph above competitors like TVS Apache RR 310, BMW G 310 R, and the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. By offering double the warranty period of most rivals and at no extra cost, it turns the spotlight squarely back on reliability, resale value, and ownership cost.
The Indian mid-capacity segment has seen a boom in recent years, but with more choices than ever, buyers are becoming more cautious and value-focused. Bajaj’s decision to offer a 10-year warranty may well become a differentiator that tilts purchasing decisions in their favour.
This new warranty initiative could change the way Indian buyers perceive long-term ownership of high-performance motorcycles. The assurance of a decade-long warranty not only reduces anxiety over potential maintenance costs but also shows a strong vote of confidence from the brand itself.
For anyone planning to invest in the KTM 390 Duke or a Triumph 400cc model, there’s never been a better time. With performance, features, and now long-term peace of mind on the table, these bikes are not just great machines. They are now smarter choices, too.
