The Pune-based Indian motorcycle manufacturing giant Bajaj Auto has finally revealed the name for its upcoming CNG bike. The company recently released a teaser on its social media platforms and showcased a glimpse of India’s first CNG motorcycle. This bike, which was rumored to be called Bruzer, has now been officially named the Freedom. The launch event, which will see Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari, is currently underway.

The newest teaser of the Bajaj Auto Freedom CNG bike has been shared on Instagram by the official company page. In this short clip, a side shroud with the Bajaj logo and Freedom lettering can be seen coming under the light. The bike was finished in a blue color.

India’s first CNG motorcycle

The Bajaj Freedom 125, as we all are aware, is not an average commuter bike. Rather, it is the country’s first-ever bike equipped with a unique dual fuel system. This will allow it to run on both petrol and compressed natural gas (CNG). This dual fuel setup will help the owners of this commuter bike with a much more economical cost of running and ownership.

Design and Variants

In terms of design, from all the spy shots and teasers that we have seen, we know that the Freedom 125 will boast a sleek and slim profile, characteristic of a typical commuter motorcycle. The company, however, in order to add a unique flair to this motorcycle, will offer it in at least two visually distinct variants.

Reportedly, one variant will be a straightforward, commuter-friendly design. Meanwhile, the other variant will get a more rugged appearance, complete with a braced handlebar, handle guards, and a bash plate.

Engine and Performance

Coming to the main highlight of the Bajaj Freedom 125, it will be its powerplant. This unique motorcycle will come powered by a 125cc engine, which will be optimized for both petrol and CNG. The exact power figures for this motorcycle have not been revealed; however, they will be around the same ballpark as other commuter motorcycles in the segment. Coming to the mechanical specifications, the Bajaj Freedom 125 will most likely feature telescopic front forks and a monoshock rear suspension. As for the braking duties, they will be handled by a front disc brake and a rear drum brake. As noted from the spy shots, the bike will also get 10-spoke alloy wheels as well.

Pricing and Market Positioning

Bajaj Auto will most likely position the Freedom 125 as an affordable yet advanced option for value-conscious consumers. The expected price range for the bike is between Rs 80,000 and Rs 95,000 (ex-showroom). This will make it a very competitive choice in the commuter segment.

As mentioned, the launch event of the Bajaj Freedom is currently underway. It is being launched by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari. Along with him, Rajiv Bajaj, Chairman, MD, and CEO of Bajaj Auto, will also be present. Stay tuned here on Cartoq to find out about the Bajaj Freedom in a while.
