Police Commissioner: RC, License To Be Cancelled For 2 Wheeler Riders Performing Wheelies, Stunts

Stunting has become an epidemic in the city of Bangalore, Karnataka. Almost every other day, there are reports of people doing stunts like wheelies, stoppies, and other tricks on public roads. All of these stunt riders are causing a lot of public outrage, and the police authorities of the city have taken note of this. Recently, the Joint Commissioner of Bangalore Traffic Police gave a bold statement regarding this issue. He stated that the driving licenses and registration certificates of all those caught stunting will be immediately canceled.
Recently, Bengaluru Traffic Police, on their Instagram page, shared a new video. In this post, M.N. Anucheth, Joint Commissioner of Police, Bengaluru Traffic Police, stated that people caught performing stunts like wheelies and racing on public roads will be apprehended.
He highlighted that the registration certificates of their vehicles will be canceled. Anucheth also emphasized that these vehicles will be seized by the authorities, and on top of that, the driving licenses of the individuals caught will be canceled as well. It has also been mentioned that if the person doing stunts is underage, the driving license of the vehicle's owner will be canceled.
To further instill fear in the minds of budding stunt riders, the Joint Commissioner of Traffic Police has also stated that a criminal case will be filed against those caught performing stunts and racing on public roads.
In addition to this, the police authorities will also take undertakings from these offenders to ensure they do not repeat these offenses. If individuals who have signed the undertaking are caught stunting on public roads again, the Bengaluru Traffic Police will file cognizable offenses against them.
For those who may not be aware, the number of stunt riders in Bengaluru has been increasing rapidly. These stunt riders perform wheelies, stoppies, and burnouts on public roads. They engage in street racing and share videos on Instagram and YouTube to gain more followers, likes, and comments.
To avoid getting caught by the police, these stunt bike and scooter riders remove the number plates from their vehicles. This ensures that they cannot be identified by the authorities, even if the video reaches them. Kuldeep Kumar Jain, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic, Bengaluru East), stated that individuals aged 21–30 constitute a significant portion of road accident fatalities.
Last year, a video went viral on the internet. In this incident, a group of angry people caught a few stunt riders on a national highway, following which they threw the stunt riders’ scooters off a bridge. This particular video was reportedly from Maharashtra. In the footage, people were seen in an extremely angry state.
This demonstrated that when authorities fail to take action, the public itself takes action against such offenders. Most likely, the new strict measures from the Bengaluru Traffic Police will help create fear among these stunt riders. Whether this actually happens or not will be seen in the coming months.
