Upcoming BMW F 450 GS Adventure Motorcycle: Patent Images Reveal Production Bike
BMW Motorrad, the motorcycle manufacturing arm of the German luxury carmaker BMW, is currently working on the development of its newest product, the F 450 GS affordable adventure motorcycle. The company first showcased it at the EICMA 2024 in Italy. Since then, a number of test mules of this bike have been spotted across India and abroad. Now, we finally have a clear view of what the production version of the F 450 GS will look like, all thanks to leaked patent images.
BMW F 450 GS: Leaked images reveal design
From the leaked patent images of the upcoming BMW Motorrad F 450 GS, we can note that it will not completely look like the concept that got everyone excited for this motorcycle. However, it has to be mentioned that it still carries the same BMW Motorrad adventure motorcycle DNA and looks off-road ready but with a premium touch.
Its major design highlights include an aggressive-looking front fascia with a twin-barrel LED headlight at the front. The F 450 GS also gets a tall windscreen, extended radiator shrouds, a sharp front beak, and a sculpted fuel tank. The raised handlebar adds to the adventure motorcycle’s purposeful design.
Moving towards the rear, we can note that the F 450 GS will come equipped with mid-mounted footpegs, adjustable levers, a split-seat setup, and a tall rear seat. Eagle-eyed viewers might note that the production version of this motorcycle misses out on the exposed sub-frame, which was seen in the concept model. The overall styling of the F 450 GS is inspired by the much more expensive BMW R 1300 GS.
Features and mechanicals
In terms of features, BMW will offer this everyday adventure motorcycle with an all-LED setup. This will include an LED headlight, LED turn indicators, and an LED taillight as well. Other highlights of this bike will include a colored TFT instrument console and Bluetooth connectivity. It also gets switchable dual-channel ABS, a traction control system, and multiple riding modes.
The BMW F 450 GS will come equipped with a trellis frame with a bolt-on subframe. As for the suspension, the bike will get upside-down forks at the front and a monoshock suspension at the rear. The bike will ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear alloy wheels, which will be tubeless. Braking duties will be handled by disc brakes on both ends.
Powerplant
The main highlight of the BMW F 450 GS is the 450cc, twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine, which is being developed in partnership with the Indian two-wheeler manufacturing giant TVS. It will be capable of producing 48 bhp of power and 45 Nm of torque. Transmission duties will be handled by a 6-speed gearbox. The concept bike weighed around 170 kg; however, the production bike is expected to be slightly heavier.
Rivals
The BMW F 450 GS will be the brand's entry-level adventure touring motorcycle. It will replace the BMW G 310 R. As for the rivals in the Indian market, it will take on the likes of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, Honda NX500, and CFMoto 450 MT. The price is expected to start at Rs 4 lakh.
