It is no secret that BMW is readying the new F 450 GS adventure bike (ADV) for a market launch sometime this year. The concept bike was showcased at the Auto Expo 2025. Now, we have come across spy shots of the bike's production form. Plus, the patent images have also surfaced, giving a more detailed look at the ADV.

Let's start with the spy shots first. BMW Motorrad has lately been testing the production version of the F450 GS in Europe. Spy photos of the same were shared by Motorrad Magazine. BMW had showcased the concept globally for the first time at EICMA 2024. We expect to see the final form for the first time at the Italian Motor Show.

Going by the latest set of spy shots, the production form has evolved a lot from the previous concept. The design and many of its details seem to have been watered down, despite the manufacturer having originally described the concept as 'close-to-production'.

The F 450 GS concept took clear design influence from the R 1300 GS and had a long-travel suspension, spoke wheels, a raised exhaust design, and chunky rubber. On the production form, the front end seems to have been redesigned, although there is still a strong resemblance to the R1300 GS.

The rear gets a new sub-frame and a more comfortable seat. The production model's seat doesn't look as sleek as that of the concept, which in fact, came with a rally seat. The exhaust is also placed lower and seems to be more voluminous. The production spec is also expected to come with slightly lower suspension travels than the concept, at both ends.

The most obvious change is in the wheels. The concept had cross-spoke wheels, whereas it is alloy wheels that you see on the production-ready form. Wheel size remains the same- 19-inch at the front and 17 at the rear. Furthermore, the profile seems to be larger on the test mules, which ride on off-road tyres.

Rumour has it that BMW could also launch a more adventure-focussed version of this bike in the future with tubeless spoked wheels (21 inch at the front and 17 or 18-inch units at the rear).

Talking of the elements from the concept which have made their way into the production bike, the fuel tank and side panels have the exact shape and design as on the concept.

More interestingly, the production version will use the same engine as the concept. The F450 GS concept featured the bikemaker's newly developed inline-twin engine which is capable of making 48-50 hp. The displacement stands slightly below 450cc. On the production bike, it will sit in a classic tubular steel frame, just like how it used to on the concept.

Another notable carry-over will be the semi-automatic transmission. Finer details of this unit are yet to surface. We know for a fact that it will hardly have much in common with the R1300s' ASA semi-automatic transmission. Bringing this directly to the 450 GS will add a massive chunk to its price. BMW is unlikely to take this chance. The semi-automatic unit will be an optional add-on. For it to be successful, smart pricing is of key significance.

The design patent images published by the UK's intellectual property office point to more changes in the production-ready F450 GS's bodywork. The windscreen design has been completely revised. Some panels have been slightly tweaked as well. The concept's exposed rear luggage mount has been covered with bodywork and has integrated a pannier mounting point under the pillion seat.

When launched, the F450 GS is expected to sit between the outgoing G310 GS and the much larger F 800 GS. It will eventually replace the G310 GS in many markets. Like the G310 GS, it will also be produced at the TVS factory. We expect the price to be around Rs 4.5-5 lakh, ex-showroom.
