BMW Motorrad’s entry-level motorcycle, the G 310 RR, is set to get a round of upgrades along with a price cut of ₹24,000. The revised price will be ₹2.81 lakh ex-showroom, down from ₹3.05 lakh. The reduction comes as a result of new GST rates on sub-350cc motorcycles.

Engine And Performance Boost

The updated model is expected to use the improved 312cc single-cylinder engine seen on the latest TVS Apache RR 310, with which it shares its platform.

Updates include a larger airbox, higher compression ratio, lighter piston and a bigger throttle body. These changes push power to 38hp at 9,800rpm and torque to 29Nm at 7,900rpm, compared to the current 34hp and 27.3Nm.

The higher output should improve performance in both city and highway riding, giving the G 310 RR stronger mid-range pull.

Added Features And Tech

The feature list may also expand with a bi-directional quickshifter and cruise control, systems recently introduced on the Apache RR 310. Safety upgrades could include launch control and cornering drag torque control, features usually found on more expensive bikes.

On the cosmetic side, the bike may receive aerodynamic winglets said to add downforce for stability at higher speeds. A transparent clutch cover and new 8-spoke alloy wheels, also borrowed from TVS models, could improve both style and handling.

BMW G 310 RR vs Competition

The GST rate on motorcycles up to 350cc has been reduced from 28 percent to 18 percent. This directly lowers the ex-showroom price of the G 310 RR, making it more competitive in the market. Despite the cut, BMW typically maintains about a ₹20,000 premium over the top-spec TVS Apache RR 310, which is priced at ₹2.95 lakh.

With the new price, the G 310 RR is better positioned against rivals like the KTM RC 390 and Kawasaki Ninja 300, both of which compete in the same bracket.

The G 310 RR has always been BMW’s most accessible motorcycle in India. It already comes with features such as ride-by-wire, riding modes, dual-channel ABS, LED lighting and a TFT display. The new updates should help it address earlier criticism about performance not matching its price tag.

The updated BMW G 310 RR scores on value. With its lower price and new feature set, it becomes the most accessible option among premium faired motorcycles. Its engine upgrades should solve earlier concerns about performance, though it still lags behind the KTM RC 390 in outright power and torque.

The KTM RC 390 remains the segment leader for riders who want maximum performance. Its higher power and torque make it quicker, especially on the highway, but its pricing is higher and its sporty nature may be less practical for everyday use.

The Kawasaki Ninja 300 continues to appeal with its smooth twin-cylinder engine and strong refinement. However, it is the most expensive of the three and offers less torque compared to both BMW and KTM, making it more about long-term reliability and brand appeal than outright value.

For buyers, the BMW now looks like the best balance between pricing, features and daily usability, while KTM holds the edge for thrill-seekers and Kawasaki remains the pick for refinement and brand-conscious riders.
