Ducati Diavel V4 RS Brings MotoGP-Derived Performance to Indian Roads

Ducati Diavel V4 RS

Ducati has confirmed that the Diavel V4 RS, its most powerful cruiser yet, will launch in India in the second half of 2026. The limited-edition machine uses MotoGP technology and accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 2.5 seconds, making it the fastest accelerating production Ducati ever built.

MotoGP Engine At Its Core

The Diavel V4 RS is powered by the 1,103cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine. This motor comes directly from Ducati’s Panigale V4 and Streetfighter V4 superbikes, replacing the standard Diavel V4’s 1,158cc Granturismo engine. Despite the smaller capacity, the Desmosedici unit produces more power, with 182 hp at 11,750 rpm and 121 Nm of torque at 9,500 rpm. The standard Diavel V4 makes 168 hp and 126 Nm.

A key feature of this engine is Ducati’s desmodromic valve system. Instead of valve springs, cam lobes both open and close the valves, allowing safe revs up to 14,000 rpm in first gear and 13,500 rpm in higher gears. This system has its roots in Ducati’s MotoGP programme.

Superbike Performance In A Cruiser Format

The Diavel V4 RS combines cruiser ergonomics with superbike speed. The 2.5-second 0-100 kmph run was achieved during testing by Marc Marquez. The long wheelbase, compared to Ducati’s sports models, helps with traction during launches.

The bike uses an aluminium monocoque frame with the engine as a stressed member, a single-sided swingarm, and forged aluminium wheels. Suspension is handled by fully adjustable Ohlins NIX30 48mm inverted forks at the front and an Ohlins STX 46 monoshock at the rear. Braking comes from twin 330mm discs with Brembo Stylema calipers at the front and a 265mm disc at the rear, all integrated with cornering ABS.

Electronics And Riding Modes

The electronics package is extensive. For the first time on a Diavel, there is a Race Mode, joining Sport, Touring, and Urban. Race Mode changes the TFT display to a track-focused layout and unlocks maximum performance. Other aids include traction control, wheelie control, cornering ABS, and Ducati Power Launch.

The launch control feature manages throttle and wheelie control automatically while the rider focuses on clutch release. To prevent clutch damage, the system limits consecutive launches.

Lightweight with Fat Tyres

The RS version is lighter than the standard Diavel V4 thanks to carbon fibre parts like mudguards, tank covers, fairings, and air ducts. A lithium-ion battery also contributes to the 3kg drop, bringing the wet weight down to 220kg.

The bike runs on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres, with a massive 240/45-section rear tyre. These are designed to handle the engine’s output while balancing grip and durability for both spirited riding and longer trips.

Indian Launch And Expected Price

The Diavel V4 RS will arrive in India in late 2026, about six months after European deliveries start in December 2025. Ducati’s India network, with outlets in major cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kochi, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Ahmedabad, and Kolkata, will handle sales and support.

Pricing is expected to exceed ₹40 lakh, making it one of the most expensive production motorcycles in India. For comparison, the Multistrada V4 RS is priced at ₹38.40 lakh, while Ducati’s current line-up starts at ₹9.97 lakh for the Scrambler and goes up to ₹40.67 lakh for the Multistrada V4 RS. The Diavel V4 RS, with its limited production run and higher performance focus, will sit above these models.

Limited Numbers, Highly Exclusive

As with other RS-badged Ducatis, production numbers will be restricted. This exclusivity, combined with MotoGP-derived performance and premium hardware, ensures that the Diavel V4 RS will be positioned as a halo product in India.

For Indian buyers, the bike offers racing-level technology packaged for public roads. It combines the acceleration and electronics of a track machine with the size and comfort of a cruiser, creating a motorcycle unlike anything currently available in the segment.
