Hero Motocorp's EV sub-brand Vida launched its newest product- the VX2 electric scooter earlier this month. It had an unbelievable starting price of Rs 59,490. Now, the manufacturer has announced a limited-time introductory offer on it which has brought the price further down. Now, the Vida VX2 has an ex-showroom price of Rs 44,990. The catch here, is that this is the BaaS (Battery as a Service) price. Paying for the whole scooter upfront will cost you much more (Rs 84,990- Rs 1.1 lakh depending on the variant chosen). The introductory price will only be valid for a limited span of time (the company hasn't specified this timeline though.)

Let's now take a closer look at the prices. The VX2 Go variant previously had an ex-showroom (full) price of Rs 99,490 and a BaaS price of Rs 59,490. The introductory offer has brought these down to Rs 84,990 and Rs 44,990 respectively.

The higher variant- VX2 Plus, had a full price of Rs 1.10 lakh and a BaaS price of Rs 64,990 when it was launched. With the limited-time offer in place, these have come down to Rs 99,990 and Rs 57,990 respectively.

The BaaS model of ownership is something we first saw on electric cars. MG was the first to introduce it here. Now, Hero Motocorp has brought it to the latest Vida scooter. It has made the new scooter accessible to more people. The aggressive pricing hints at the company's intentions to solidify its foothold in the electric scooter segment, which, by the way, is witnessing rapid growth.

A Closer Look At The Hero Vida VX2 Range

The VX2 comes in two broad trims- the VX2 Plus and VX2 Go. The key difference between these is in the battery capacity. The Go has a 2.2 kWh removable battery pack. The Plus on the other hand, comes with two removable battery packs with a combined capacity of 3.4kWh. The removable design of these can be of great convenience to many.

Talking range figures, the Go is claimed to offer 92 km per charge while the Plus has an IDC range of 142km. In Hero Vida's lineup, this scooter is positioned below the V2. Below are the prices:

On the design front, the VX2 takes clear inspiration from the Vida Z showcased at EICMA 2024. This scooter is targetted at the urban family buyers. It gets a practical design and a bunch of features. The VX2 comes with a large stepped-up single-piece seat which will be a great fit for families. It rides on 12-inch wheels- just like the V2.

The scooter comes with all-LED lighting. The headlamp houses LEDs and there is an LED DRL as well. The tail lamps and indicators are LEDs as well. The rear-view mirrors, handlebar, and rear grab rail feature a simple yet practical design. The rider display on the VX2 is a simple digital display and not a touchscreen. It comes with joystick-based controls.

Vida VX2's Market Rivals

In India's electric two-wheeler market, the VX2 will compete with the likes of TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Ather models. Many of these, as you know, are big names in the space. Competition is thus going to be intense.

The iQube currently has a starting price of Rs 1.02 lakh, while the Chetak is priced from Rs 99,900. The Ather Rizta is also targetted at family buyers, and comes with a starting price of Rs 98,311. The aggressive pricing and the BaaS compatibility will give the VX2 the advantage it deserves.
