Finally, after waiting for so long, Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) has unveiled the electric version of its most popular product, the Activa. It is called the Activa e:, and along with it, the company has unveiled the QC1 as well. Both of these new electric scooters from Honda can be booked from January 1, 2025, and deliveries will commence in February 2025. Interestingly, it will initially be available in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

Design

Honda has managed to make its first electric scooter look as close to its ICE counterpart as it could. It has avoided using gimmicky design and has retained the simple yet elegant body style that the Activa is known for in India. At the front, the Activa e: and QC1 both get apron-mounted LED headlights and LED DRLs that resemble a smiling face.

The short front mudguard gets a hint of a black border, and there are 12-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels. In addition, this scooter also gets a single-piece dual-tone seat with a chunky grab rail at the rear. It also gets a flat floorboard and sleek LED taillights. The overall design is very minimalistic and classy.

Honda is offering the new Activa e: with five unique color options. These include Pearl Shallow Blue, Pearl Misty White, Pearl Serenity Blue, Matt Goff Silver Metallic, and Pearl Igneous Black.

Features

The base variant QC1 gets a simple 5.0-inch TFT display with limited Bluetooth functionality. On the other hand, the Activa e: gets a 7.0-inch TFT display with navigation and notification alerts. Other features include Smart Find, Smart Safe, Smart Unlock, and Smart Start. The top variant also gets the Honda RoadSync Duo app as well.

Apart from these, for storage, Honda is offering the Activa e: with limited space as most of it has been occupied by two swappable batteries. There are two cubbies at the front, with one getting a USB charger. It also comes with keyless functionality with a fob.

Honda Activa e: Powertrain

The Honda Activa e: comes equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor. It will be capable of producing 6 kW of power and a torque of 22 Nm. Acceleration from 0-60 kmph will happen in 7.3 seconds, and it gets a top speed of 80 kmph.

As for batteries, the scooter gets dual swappable batteries with a 1.5 kWh capacity each. In total, the range offered with two batteries is 102 km. These swappable batteries have been developed by Honda Power Pack Energy India.

The Activa e: also gets riding modes such as Eco, Standard, and Sport, and it also gets reverse functionality. Suspension duties will be handled by telescopic front forks and dual shock absorbers at the rear. The front wheel gets a 160 mm disc brake, while the rear gets a 130 mm disc. The overall ground clearance of this EV scooter is 171 mm.

Honda QC1: Powertrain

As for the powertrain of the Honda QC1, it will get an in-wheel electric motor with a peak power of 1.8 kW and 77 Nm of torque. It will offer a top speed of 50 kmph. The battery pack of the QC1 will be fixed, and it will have a capacity of 1.5 kWh, offering a range of 80 km per charge.

Charging time for the QC1 will be 0-80 percent in 4 hours and 30 minutes, and to reach 100 percent, the total time will be 6 hours and 50 minutes. It will only get standard and econ driving modes.

The Honda Activa e: and QC1 will be competing in the crowded EV two-wheeler segment with scooters like Ola S1, Ather 450X, Ather Rizta, TVS iQube, and others.
