Honda Rebel 500 Cruiser Motorcycle Launched In India At Rs 5.12 lakh

After a long wait, Honda has finally launched the all-new Rebel 500 cruiser motorcycle in the Indian market. The cruiser bike has been launched at a price of Rs 5.12 lakh, ex-showroom. Bookings for this all-new cruiser motorcycle have started at select Honda BigWing dealerships in Gurugram, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
Talking at the launch, Mr. Yogesh Mathur, Director, Sales and Marketing, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, “We are very excited to bring the Rebel 500 to Indian shores. It has been a motorcycle that riding enthusiasts have been eagerly waiting for for years, and it’s now finally here. Designed to let you express your individuality, the Rebel 500 blends timeless cruiser styling with modern touches to stand apart from the crowd. With its unmistakable street presence, torquey engine, and laid-back ergonomics, the Rebel 500 is perfect for riders looking for a machine that’s both engaging and a unique extension of their soul.”
The Honda Rebel 500 is a cruiser motorcycle that was rumoured to be launched in the market years ago. However, due to various reasons, the launch got delayed and is finally here. Although it is a new product for the Indian market, the Rebel 500 has been available in the international market for years now.
Like many Honda motorcycles, the Rebel 500 also comes with a neo-retro design which gives it a unique look. The cruiser bike gets a completely blacked-out exterior. The bike is built on a tubular steel frame and comes with telescopic front forks and twin rear suspension from Showa. Part of the Rebel 500’s unique design is the steeply raked fuel tank.
It also comes with round LED headlamps, a 690 mm low seat height, 296 mm disc brakes at the front, and a 240 mm unit at the rear. There is dual-channel ABS, and the Rebel 500 also gets 16-inch alloy wheels with thick-profile tyres from Dunlop. The Rebel 500 also gets an LCD instrument cluster.
Coming to the engine and performance, the Honda Rebel 500 is powered by a 471-cc, liquid-cooled, parallel twin-cylinder engine that generates 46 PS and 43.3 Nm of peak torque. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. As this is a cruiser motorcycle, the engine has been tuned for better low-end torque.
The Rebel 500, like many premium motorcycles from Honda, will be sold via BigWing Topline dealerships in three cities. This means the motorcycle will only be available at dealerships in Gurugram, Bengaluru, and Mumbai.
We feel this is not the right strategy from Honda as there are Honda fans spread across different parts of the country. Bookings for the Rebel 500 can be done by visiting the dealership or via the official website.
While Honda has already started accepting bookings for the Honda Rebel 500, it should be noted that the deliveries for the same would only start in the month of June this year. The Honda Rebel 500 is only available in a single variant and shade.
The standard variant is available in a Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic colour. Even the Honda logo on this motorcycle is finished in black to go with the overall theme. It will compete with the likes of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor in the segment.
