Kinetic DX Electric Scooter Launched At 1.11 Lakh

Kinetic Green Energy and Power Solutions has launched its newest electric scooter in the Indian market- the DX. Think of it as the electric resurrection of the legendary Kinetic Honda DX. Two variants are available- DX and DX+- priced at Rs 1.11 lakh and Rs 1.17 lakh respectively.
The scooter tries to blend the original Kinetic DX's retro design with the modern-day electric powertrain abilities and performance. It can be booked through Kinetic's official website (limited to 40,000 units initially), and the deliveries are expected to commence next year.
The scooter also comes with a standard warranty of three-year/30,000km , which the customer carn extend to up to 9 years/1,00,000 km. In the Indian market, the DX will compete primarily with the Bajaj Chetak electric, TVS iQube and Honda Activa e. Models like Ather Rizta, Ola S1 Pro, and Vida VX2 could also join the fight.
To give you more perspective, the 3.1 kWh battery version of the iQube has an ex-showroom price of 1.05 lakh. It has a higher range of 121 km per charge. The Bajaj Chetak 3001 stands a lot more affordable at Rs 99,990. It has a claimed range of 127 km per charge. The Honda Activa e: comes with two removable battery packs, each with a capacity of 1.5kWh. This makes for a combined capacity of 3.0KWh. The ex-showroom price, however, stands at 1.17 lakh.
Most electric scooters that are on sale today, come with plastic/fiber-made bodies. The DX has its body built with metal and is claimed to be more durable. There are five colour options on offer.
The design draws heavily from that of the original DX. Strong resemblances can be found in the front apron, LED headlamp, and even the side panels. The front indicators are shaped like the Kinetic logo! The overall shape looks like an evolution of the original scooter's design. Adding more spice to the design, an illuminated 'Kinetic ' sits on the scooter's short, stubby visor. Even the seat design seems to be an evolution of the original scooter's. The all-electric Kinetic DX packs some serious nostalgia value for sure...
Kinetic has packaged this e-scooter well. You get a lot of modern features and technologies. You get the likes of a cruise control, an 8.8-inch instrument cluster (the design of which is heavily inspired by that of the original scooter's instrument panel), built-in speaker with Bluetooth connectivity, keyless go, hill-hold assist, and a unique onboard charger.
Kinetic also offers its own 'Telekinetic telematics system' on the range-topping variant, which packs a slew of connectivity-based features like geo-fencing, vehicle tracking, find my Kinetic, and more.
The scooter also comes with a one-click access to both storage and charging ports. This will be of great use in daily commutes.
The Kinetic DX electric scooter has a sophisticated 2.6kWh LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery pack. It is mated to a 4.8kW hub-mounted BLDC electric motor. This powertrain has a peak output of 4.8kW (6.4hp). The e-scooter is claimed to deliver strong acceleration. Three riding modes are on offer- Range, Power, and Turbo. Kinetic has also given it a reversing function for easy parking.
Furthermore, it has a claimed IDC range of 116km per charge. The ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India) figures are yet to surface. The top-speed stands at 90 kph.
