Who is Om Banna Bullet Baba?
For those who may not be aware, there is a temple which is named “Shri Om Banna Temple,” and it is located on the NH-62 Jodhpur-Pali Highway in Chotila village. This particular temple is around one hour away from Jodhpur, and people travelling on the Jodhpur highway stop here to seek blessings. Locals believe that those who stop at this temple become safe from any accident which could take place on the highway.
Additionally, it has also been mentioned by many people that those who do not stop at this temple are most likely to have an accident. Now, whether this is 100 percent true or not cannot be verified. However, what we know is that people stop at this temple to worship a Royal Enfield Bullet 350 motorcycle, which has now been encased in a glass box.
People who stop at this temple offer flowers, fruits, and incense sticks. Also, some people even offer alcohol as well. All of this is done to seek the blessings of Om Banna, the man who has now become a deity, who once used to reside in the Chotila village in Rajasthan.
What is Om Banna’s story?
As per the locals, back in 1988, a man named Om Singh Rathore was traveling from a different village to his home in Chotila. However, during the ride at night, he lost control of his Royal Enfield Bullet 350 motorcycle and crashed into a tree. Unfortunately, as it was late at night, no one could help him, and he eventually died on the spot.
However, the next day, when his Bullet 350 was taken to the police station by the authorities, something extremely strange took place which shocked everyone. What happened was that the next day, when police officers went outside the station to check the motorcycle, it was found that the bike which they had brought from the spot of the accident was missing.
They were later informed that the motorcycle had somehow reached the exact same spot where Om Singh Rathore crashed and died. Following this, what happened next was that the bike was again brought back to the police station. And this time around, its fuel tank was completely emptied, and it was chained at the station. But to everyone's surprise, the bike once again reached the same spot of the accident.
This then continued happening several times, and as a result of this, police officials stopped bringing back the bike. Following this, the news of the bike reaching the accident spot spread like wildfire in Chotila village, and because of this, the villagers decided to create a temple for this motorcycle. Now, today, thousands of visitors visit this temple and seek blessings from Om Banna, and they believe that his blessings save them from accidents.
