Seize Bikes Used For Stunts On Public Roads: Police Commissioner

Reckless riding by two-wheeler riders is a common sight on Indian roads. Many of them even perform stunts on public roads, and the saddest part is that in most cases, they engage in such irresponsible behavior to gain attention on social media. Cops have taken action against such riders on several occasions in the past. However, such incidents don’t seem to stop. Mangaluru police have now decided to seize bikes that are found violating rules in the state. They are specifically targeting bikers from Kerala.
The report mentions that Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy has instructed police officials to take strict action against riders who are seen violating rules. In fact, he has advised them to seize bikes with Kerala registration if they are found violating traffic rules.
The reason behind this is that Mangaluru is close to Kerala and has several educational institutions. Many students in these institutes are originally from Kerala, and they often use two-wheelers to commute. The officers mentioned that 90 percent of the vehicles caught violating rules belong to students studying in various colleges across the city and its outskirts.
Despite issuing notices with surveillance camera evidence, the students continue to repeat the mistakes. It is because of this that the officers are now instructed to seize these vehicles. We have seen college students ride recklessly in front of colleges and on public roads. They often do this to impress their friends and also to gain popularity.
However, they often forget how dangerous these stunts can be and how they could affect themselves as well as the lives of other road users. Another reason why cops are planning to seize the bikes is to make them pay the fine.
As of now, all the fines issued on these bikes are sent to the registered number of the owner. As the majority of these bikes are registered in Kerala, the authorities are unable to send a challan directly. This is the reason why they are now seizing the bikes.
If they seize the bikes, the owner or the rider will have to visit the police station and clear all the fines before taking the bike out of custody. We do not promote reckless riding on public roads, but if you are really interested in doing stunts, look for a private ground or a closed stretch of road.
By doing such stunts on public roads, you are not only risking your own life but also the lives of other innocent road users. Many of them don’t even wear proper riding helmets, which leads to serious injuries in case of an accident.
If you are still keen to do stunts and want to learn this professionally, there are several motorcycle stunt training centers in many parts of the country, like Mumbai.
Even if you get trained professionally, never try to perform such stunts on public roads. Hopefully, the riders will learn to behave on the road once their vehicles are seized and they are slapped with heavy fines. Hope to hear more reports about vehicles getting seized in Mangaluru in the coming days.
