Aftermarket exhausts on a sports bike sound pretty good on a racetrack. However, when the same happens on a public road, it creates inconvenience for others. They often complain, and these exhausts are illegal too. It is an aftermarket modification that is illegal but common on bikes like the Royal Enfield Bullet. People often ride these bikes fast through busy city roads and cause inconvenience. Cops often take action against such offenders, but they somehow never seem to learn.

Recently, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) workers got involved in this matter and decided to confront Bullet riders with loud exhausts. A video of this incident has been circulating on the internet and has gone viral.

The video has been shared by Punekar News on their Facebook page. In this video, we see a Royal Enfield Bullet motorcycle ridden by a couple of youngsters passing through a public road in Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad region. The bike had an aftermarket exhaust, which was very evident.

The video was recorded from a distance, yet we could clearly hear the exhaust sound. The sound heard in the video is not the signature thump of a Bullet motorcycle. It lacks the grunt and is irritating to other road users. After the first clip, we see a group of men talking to the youngsters on the side of the road.

They grabbed them by the shoulder and started questioning them about the exhaust on the motorcycle. The men seen here are probably locals and also workers of the political party MNS. They confronted the youngsters, and the argument soon escalated. We see the MNS workers slapping one of the riders. Soon after, others in the group joined in and started thrashing the bikers.

The video also shows the MNS workers at the office of a senior police official. It looks like they discussed this menace with the police and have probably requested action against the offenders.

The person we see in the video is Sachin Chikhale, Pimpri-Chinchwad City President of MNS. Talking to the media, he said, “Noise pollution has increased in the city. Roadside Romeos create a lot of disturbance with their modified Bullet silencers, causing a nuisance to citizens, especially women. This is not part of our culture.”

“Due to their unruly behavior, even regular Bullet riders face the consequences. We believe drivers should ride responsibly and follow traffic rules. We have met with police authorities, urging action against these violators. We also feel the Damini Squad should be more active. Soon, we plan to meet the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Chief to discuss this issue further.”

We understand that loud exhausts are a problem in many cities and are inconvenient for many citizens. However, slapping offenders and assaulting them is also not right. If the locals were irritated with the bikers’ behavior, they should have ideally informed the cops and asked for help.

They could have assisted the cops in nabbing all the bikers using such illegal and loud exhausts. The cops have the authority to take action, and we hope not to see more such assault videos in the future.
