Ola Electric Launches Roadster X+ Edition To Celebrate 1 Million Production Milestone

Ola Electric, which is one of the top electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India, has managed to achieve a feat that no other EV two-wheeler maker has achieved. It has become India's first electric EV manufacturer to cross the 1 million vehicle production milestone in just under four years. To celebrate this milestone, the company has launched a special edition, the Roadster X+, in India.
Ola Electric, in order to commemorate the milestone of reaching 1 million+ production of electric two-wheelers, has launched the new Roadster X+ special edition. This new edition comes finished in a midnight blue color scheme with sporty red accents on the dual-tone seat, alloy wheels, and battery pack.
Also, to integrate sustainability into the design of the Roadster X+ special edition, the company has added special badges crafted from recycled copper waste. It also gets electroplated bar ends which, according to the company, reflect an eco-friendly engineering philosophy.
Ola Electric has not introduced any new battery pack or motor setups. It still gets the same more powerful 11 kW peak power-producing electric motor. Its top speed is 125 kmph, and it can accelerate from 0–40 kmph in 2.7 seconds. It also features brake-by-wire, single-channel ABS, and the same range.
As for the battery pack, it comes equipped with a 9.1 kWh battery pack that incorporates the brand’s in-house developed 4680 Bharat cells. As a result, the Roadster X+ with the 9.1 kWh battery pack offers a range of 501 km on a single full charge.
Ola Electric also offers the standard Roadster X model as well. It comes with a less powerful 7 kW peak power motor, and it boasts a top speed of 118 kmph. The Roadster X is able to do a sprint from 0–40 kmph in just 3.1 seconds, and its range is 252 km IDC-certified.
At this year's annual Ola “Sankalp” event, the company announced that its new vehicles will now come powered by its proprietary 4680 Bharat Cell integration technology. The lineup of vehicles with this cell includes the Ola S1 Pro+ 5.2 kWh pack starting at Rs 1.69 lakh and the Roadster X+ 9.1 kWh at Rs 1.89 lakh.
An official from Ola Electric, on the achievement of the milestone, stated, “This marks the celebration of every Indian who trusted us and believed in our mission. In four years, we’ve gone from an idea to becoming India’s EV two-wheeler leader. We built at scale and proved that world-class products can be designed, engineered, and manufactured right here in India. This milestone is a testament to how far we’ve come, and we’re just getting started!”
In other Ola Electric news, the company is currently working on the development of a new electric car which will be based on the brand's upcoming Gen 4 platform. In addition to a small electric city car that will rival the MG Comet EV, Ola will also use the same platform to produce an EV auto-rickshaw and a Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV).
According to the company, the upcoming platform will feature an electric motor capable of producing 16 kW. It added that the new motor will be 15 percent more energy-efficient than the Gen 3 motor. As for the battery, the new vehicle will feature 4680 Bharat cells which will be manufactured in-house at Ola Electric’s Gigafactory.
