Ola Electric launched its updated Gen3 scooter earlier this year. Although the scooters were introduced and bookings had started, it took some time to begin production. It looks like Ola has finally managed to manufacture the updated Gen3 scooters, and they have now started reaching dealerships as well. Here, we have a social media post suggesting that Ola has begun deliveries of the Gen3 scooters.

The images have been shared by Rajib Biswas on his X profile. The image is posted with the caption, “Ola S1X Gen 3 deliveries have officially begun! ? Spotted at Ola Experience Center, Habra today. Exciting times for EV lovers!” The Ola S1X Gen3 scooter is seen in the picture, and it appears that the person standing next to it is the customer.

The Ola scooter seen here is from a dealership in Habra, West Bengal. Compared to the older generation models, the Gen3 scooters are completely different. In fact, they are based on an all-new platform. In this new platform, Ola has integrated the motor, battery, and electronics into a single box.

The aluminum-cast front and rear frame sub-assembly of the scooter is also integrated into the battery box. In short, the battery box is now a structural part of the scooter’s frame.

In the previous generation models, the battery pack was an independent structure. In the Gen3 models, the Ola S1 incorporates the battery pack as part of the structure. This helps reduce weight and allows for better packaging of the batteries.

The Gen3 platform is designed to accommodate future Ola products, including electric bikes. Ola will be using the 4680 Bharat Cell, a lithium-ion battery developed by Ola Electric, in the scooter. The Bharat cells are placed in a pallet, which is covered by a reinforced metal casing to protect the batteries in case of an incident.

Apart from the battery, the electric motor on the Ola S1 has also been redesigned. It now uses magnetized electrical coils instead of the permanent magnets found in the previous generation model. This improvement allows the motor to generate more torque efficiently. Ola claims that locally sourced materials have been used for this motor.

These changes apply to all versions of the S1 electric scooter. Ola offers the Ola S1X, Ola S1X+, Ola S1 Pro, and Ola S1 Pro+ models. It appears that deliveries of the entry-level S1X models have commenced first. The Ola S1X electric scooter is powered by a 2 kWh battery pack that generates 7.3 PS of power. The S1X is also available with 3 kWh and 4 kWh battery pack options. The starting price of an Ola S1X electric scooter is around ₹74,999. Price for Ola electric scooter starts at Rs 74,999 and goes all the way till Rs 1.70 lakh, ex-showroom.

Ola is also working on an electric motorcycle, known as the Roadster, which is expected to launch soon. Under the post, several comments criticize the brand for its poor service and product quality. Hopefully, Ola’s senior management takes note of these concerns and addresses them to ensure a smoother customer experience.
