The country’s largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Ola Electric, has finally launched its Gen 3 electric scooters in India. These new electric scooters start at Rs 79,999 and go all the way up to Rs 1,69,999 for the new flagship electric scooter, the S1 Pro+. Ola Electric has launched a total of four scooters with its newly developed Gen 3 scooters.
Ola Electric Gen 3 EV Scooters: What’s New?
The Gen 1 Ola Electric scooters came with an 8.5 kW peak power electric motor, a range of 170 km, and a top speed of 116 kmph. Meanwhile, the Gen 2 scooters came with an 11 kW motor, a 195 km range, and a top speed of 120 kmph.
However, for the Gen 3, Ola Electric has integrated the battery pack with the electric motor and the MCU. As a result of this, the new Gen 3 scooters have become a lot more reliable and offer more range and performance. The Gen 3 scooters now come with a 13 kW mid-mounted motor.
This new motor offers an increased energy efficiency of 80 percent, which is 10 percent better than Gen 2. Also, the Gen 3 electric scooters now get a mid-drive motor with an integrated MCU. It is 4 percent more energy efficient and offers five times better reliability. The new Gen 3 scooters have moved from a belt drive to a chain drive, which is more efficient and reliable.
Additionally, the new Gen 3 scooters come with brake-by-wire technology. The result of this new technology is 15 percent more range, and all of the S1 electric scooters now get Single channel ABS. Additionally, brake pad wear will also reduce with brake-by-wire. The new Gen 3 scooters will also come with a single integrated board with a much more powerful chip.
In terms of design, the new scooters now get a lot of premium elements. These include a new grab handle, a bigger and more ergonomic seat, and a new sporty decal, as well as five new colors.
MoveOS 5
The newest generation of MoveOS will be rolled out by mid-February. It now gets a DIY mode, Smart Park mode, Road Trip mode, and Bharat mode, along with SOS alerts.
Gen 3 S1 Portfolio
S1 X
The first and most affordable model in the Ola Electric range is the S1 X. This model now gets brake-by-wire, an integrated mid-mounted motor with MCU, a longer seat, a new sporty decal, and a chain drive. It also features a new segmented color LCD display.
It will be available in three variants: 2 kWh, 3 kWh, and 4 kWh. It will come equipped with a 7 kW electric motor offering a top speed of 123 kmph.
As for its range, it will be an impressive 242 km of IDC-certified range, and 0-40 kmph will happen in just 3 seconds.
Pricing of the S1 X is Rs 79,999 for the 2 kWh battery pack variant. Meanwhile, the 3 kWh and 4 kWh battery pack options have been priced at Rs 89,999 and Rs 99,999, respectively.
S1 X+
In addition to the S1 X, the company has now updated the S1 X+ as well. This electric scooter gets an even more powerful 11 kW peak power electric motor. It also gets a front disc brake, an IDC-certified range of 242 km, a 125 kmph top speed, and an acceleration of 0-40 kmph in just 2.7 seconds.
New Gen 3 S1 Pro
Now, coming to the S1 Pro electric scooter. The new Gen 3 model gets rim decals, a die-cast aluminum grab handle, and new color options. It will be offered in two variants—3 kWh and 4 kWh. The peak power generated by its electric motor will be 11 kW, and it will have a top speed of 125 kmph.
As for the range, it remains the same as the S1 X+ at 242 km. The 0-40 kmph time of 2.7 seconds is also the same. Pricing-wise, the new S1 Pro has been priced at Rs 1,14,999 for the 3 kWh variant and Rs 1,34,999 for the 4 kWh model.
S1 Pro+: New Flagship
Lastly, the company has introduced a brand-new flagship model, the S1 Pro+ variant. This model comes equipped with the most powerful 13 kW peak power electric motor. It is also the only scooter with dual-channel ABS, and it also gets brake-by-wire technology. The S1 Pro+ can do a sprint of 0-40 kmph in just 2.1 seconds.
This newly introduced model will be available in two variants—5.3 kWh and 4 kWh. The more expensive 5.3 kWh variant will come with an impressive 320 km IDC-certified range. It will also offer a top speed of 141 kmph and 0-40 kmph in just 2.1 seconds. Pricing of the 5.3 kWh variant has been set at Rs 1,69,999.
Meanwhile, the 4 kWh model has been priced at Rs 1,54,999. The new S1 Pro+ also comes in six new colors, namely—Porcelain White, Midnight Blue, Passion Red, Industrial Silver, Stellar Blue, and Jet Black.
