India’s largest electric two-wheeler manufacturer, Ola Electric, has been awarded not one, not two, but a total of five gold medals. These awards were presented to Ola Electric at the 49th International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC), which was held in Sri Lanka. A number of leading automakers from 14 countries were among the participants. It is the first time ever that an Indian EV manufacturer has won at this scale.

Ola Electric wins five gold medals

Ola Electric managed to secure five gold medals, which emphasize its focus on quality, innovation, and operational excellence. Ola Electric’s Futurefactory, which is located in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, is India’s largest integrated and automated electric two-wheeler manufacturing plant.

These gold awards were presented to five teams that represented the paint shop, motor shop, general assembly line, battery shop, and weld shop. The paint shop was awarded for operational cost optimization. Ola Electric stated that its paint shop has implemented new and innovative techniques to streamline the process, resulting in reduced costs.

Next up, its motor shop has been awarded for focusing on enhancing product competitiveness. It managed to achieve this by reducing the Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ). The general assembly line, on the other hand, has been awarded the gold award for increasing the capacity in the front fork sub-assembly processes.

The company is now able to accelerate the time-to-market, which results in quicker delivery to customers. As for the battery shop, it has been awarded for scaling up battery pack productivity to meet the rising customer demands for EV batteries. Lastly, the weld shop has been awarded the gold award for improving robotics throughput.

Commenting on the achievement, a spokesperson from Ola Electric stated, “This recognition at ICQCC is a testament to our relentless pursuit of excellence with our incredibly talented women at the helm of the EV revolution at our Futurefactory.”

The spokesperson added, “It reflects our ethos of blending innovation with empowerment and setting new benchmarks on the operational-heavy automotive shop floors, which are traditionally dominated by men. We are extremely happy to have started this shift in the Indian automotive manufacturing landscape and are committed to bringing more women onto the shop floors.”

Ola Electric #HyperService campaign

Earlier in September of this year, Ola Electric rolled out a new #HyperService campaign. This initiative has been taken by Ola Electric to provide its customers with quicker service. It has also announced that by December, its service network will increase from 500 to 1,000.

The company is now also deploying new AI-powered proactive and maintenance diagnostics for the owners. With this, it aims to help the owners self-diagnose their vehicles before an issue arises. Also, Ola Electric announced its Network Partner Program.

With this new program, the company aims to increase its penetration in the tier-2 and tier-3 cities of India. In September, the company had 625 partners in this program. However, it announced that this number will increase to 10,000 by 2025.

Commenting on the announcement of the new #HyperService campaign, Bhavish Aggarwal, Chairman and MD, Ola Electric, stated, “In the last 3 years, we’ve built a 7L+ community and the leading market position. We have close to 800 sales stores but only about 500 service centres. With the launch of #HyperService, we are expanding our network and also building the best-in-class ownership experience with on-demand and AI-powered service.”
