Ola Roadster Electric Motorcycle Production Starts: CEO Bhavish Aggarwal Shares First Pictures, Video

Ola Electric has officially begun production of its Roadster series electric motorcycles, with CEO Bhavish Aggarwal sharing the pictures of the first bikes being put together. Known for its competitive pricing success in the electric scooter market, the company is now targeting the larger motorcycle segment, which accounts for two-thirds of India’s two-wheeler market.
The Roadster series was first introduced during Ola Electric’s Sankalp 2024 event last August. It marks the company’s entry into the premium electric motorcycle market, with three distinct variants: the Roadster, Roadster X, and Roadster Pro. Each model is tailored to cater to different consumer needs, offering a variety of range and performance options.
The Roadster X, one of the initial models slated for release, features three battery configurations: 2.5kWh, 3.5kWh, and 4.5kWh. The base model provides a certified IDC range of 117 kilometers and a top speed of 105 km/h.
In comparison, the 4.5kWh version delivers an extended range of 200 kilometers and a maximum speed of 124 km/h. Across all configurations, the motorcycles maintain a peak power output of 11 kW and include multiple riding modes—Sports, Normal, and Eco—to suit various riding conditions.
The Roadster series is its integration of advanced technology. The motorcycles are powered by MoveOS 5, Ola’s proprietary operating system, and come equipped with a digital instrument console featuring a TFT touchscreen display.
Riders can access features such as navigation, music control, and vehicle diagnostics. Connectivity options include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, enabling seamless smartphone integration.
In terms of design, the Roadster series showcases a sporty and aggressive aesthetic. Practical elements such as a split seat design and LED projector headlights enhance rider comfort and safety. The combination of style and functionality is aimed at appealing to a wide range of customers.
Ola Electric has announced plans to incorporate its Bharat 4680 cells into the Roadster series starting in Q1 FY26. These cells promise higher energy density and faster charging, which could further enhance the motorcycles’ performance and usability.
The pricing strategy for the Roadster series reflects a competitive approach. The Roadster X 2.5kWh model starts at Rs. 74,999, with the 3.5kWh and 4.5kWh variants priced at Rs. 84,999 and Rs. 99,999, respectively. All models come with an eight-year battery warranty and access to Ola’s extensive charging network.
The commencement of Roadster series production comes as Ola Electric seeks to solidify its presence in the electric two-wheeler market. Despite a recent dip in market share, from 49% to around 33%, the company remains focused on broadening its product portfolio. Deliveries of the Roadster X and standard Roadster models are expected to begin soon, while the Roadster Pro is slated for release in January 2026.
Ola’s foray into the electric motorcycle segment places it in direct competition with established players like TVS Motor and Bajaj Auto. With a combination of performance, technology, and competitive pricing, the Roadster series is positioned to capture a significant share of this emerging market.
As the first units roll off the production line, the Roadster series could represent a pivotal moment in India’s transition to electric mobility. Ola Electric’s expansion into motorcycles underscores its commitment to innovation and its vision for the future of transportation in India. The success of this venture could play a crucial role in shaping the country’s electric vehicle industry, particularly in the high-volume motorcycle segment.
