OLA Electric is best known as an electric scooter maker. However, the company now is getting ready to launch its first electric motorcycle. Called the Ola Roadster X, the vehicle is known to have reached its final production-ready form. A recent post on X (previously Twitter) shows the CEO Bhavish Aggarwal taking the electric motorcycle for a spin. The OLA Roadster X will launch on February 5, 2025. Bookings are already open and deliveries could begin in the first half of 2025. Here’s everything to know about it.

Ola Roadster X Electric Motorcycle: What We Know Of It Yet?

The Roadster X will have three variants (Regular, X and Pro) when launched, and will also come with three different battery packs. The company had showcased the Roadster X for the domestic market in August last year. The Ola Roadster X has a price of Rs. 74,999 for the 2.5 kWh version, Rs. 84,999 for the 3.5 kWh and Rs. 99,999 for the 4.5 kWh iteration. All these prices are ex-showroom, Bangalore.

The top-spec Roadster X with the 4.5kWh battery pack is claimed to deliver a range of 200 km per charge. The top speed is around 124 kph. The vehicle gets an 11 kW electric motor. In contrast, the standard Roadster comes with a 13 kW motor. The company claims the top-spec Roadster X to do the 0-40kph sprint in 2.8 seconds.

The suspension duties are carried out by dual telescopic front forks and a rear mono-shock. Ola Electric has based this motorcycle on a scalable platform, much like the other two concepts shown alongside. It is known to be a double cradle frame. The Roadster X will come with disc brakes with a Combi Braking System (CBS). Both ends will have disc brakes and there will be a single-channel ABS and cornering ABS as well.

Features to be expected on the Roadster X are a 4.3-inch LCD screen (powered by the latest MoveOS 5), and three riding modes: Sport, Normal, and Eco. Unlike the scooters, this screen will not be a touchscreen unit. It will display rider information like speed, ride modes, range, tacho and more. We also expect to find cruise control, proximity unlock, smartwatch app integration and other AI-powered features on the production motorcycle.

The motorcycle would come with a simple, minimalist, and futuristic design. It will look sharp and edgy- going by the images that have come out yet. It will get alloy wheels and LED lighting as well. Like many electric scooters of the day, the motorcycle will come with a reverse mode. It will also have a tyre pressure monitoring system for added safety.

Electric Motorcycles Stand A Chance?

Well, this is indeed a topic of debate. You might have a bunch of reasons to say YES, but we already have enough data to suggest otherwise. Ola Electric is not the first OEM to launch an electric motorcycle. There are other players in the segment. But very few of them have managed to thrive. Unlike the electric scooter segment, footfalls in the e-motorcycle space are relatively lower. Therefore, to make an impact there, you got to pack your stuff strongly, and we are looking forward to see how OLA does this.
