Ola S1 Gen3 Electric Scooters Launching Tomorrow: All You Need To Know (Video)

Ola is one of the popular electric two-wheeler manufacturers in India. The S1 series of scooters has gained popularity among buyers across the country. While many customers have been facing issues with the products, Ola is trying its best to resolve these issues and update its products. Ola has been working on the next generation of Ola S1 scooters, and it will be officially launched in the market tomorrow. Ola has now released a new video that shows how Gen3 of Ola S1 is going to be different from the outgoing models.
The video has been shared by Ola Electric on its YouTube channel. The video talks about all the changes that the manufacturer has made to the platform, batteries, and motor to improve it. The video starts with the battery pack. Generation 3 of Ola S1 gets a redesigned platform. In the Gen3 model, the Ola S1 gets a new platform where Ola has integrated the motor, battery, and electronics into a single box.
The aluminum-casted front and rear frame sub-assembly of the scooter will also be integrated into the battery box. In short, the battery box is actually a part of the scooter’s frame now.
In the previous generation models, the battery pack was an independent structure. In the Gen3 models, the Ola S1 uses the battery pack as part of the structure. This would help in weight reduction and also allow better packaging of the batteries.
The Gen3 platform is designed in such a manner that it is suitable for future Ola products, including the electric bike. Ola will be using the 4680 Bharat Cell, a lithium-ion battery developed by Ola Electric, in the scooter. The Bharat cells are placed in a pallet, which is covered by a reinforced metal casing to protect the batteries in case of an incident.
Other than the battery, the electric motor on the Ola S1 has also been redesigned. It uses magnetized electrical coils instead of permanent magnets that were present in the previous generation model. This would help the motor generate more torque in an efficient manner. The materials used for the motor are sourced entirely from India.
The Gen1 Ola S1 scooter had 10 ECUs. This was reduced to 4 in the Gen2 models, and with the Gen3 model, Ola plans to bring the number down even further. It has now integrated the core functionality of the BMS, MCU, and other components into a single high-performance processor.
The video also mentions that they plan to offer ADAS features in their products in the future. The exterior design of the Ola S1 is likely to remain more or less the same. As usual, Ola might try to price the scooter very competitively. With all these changes in place, the Gen3 Ola S1 might offer a better range than the previous models, and it would also come with more features and a shorter charging time.
Currently, the S1 is available in S1 Z, S1 X, S1 Air, and S1 Pro. Ola has also teased several concepts for its future electric bike. The price for the Ola S1 series starts at Rs 59,999 and goes all the way up to Rs 1.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
