Production-Spec Royal Enfield Bear 650 Images Leaked

Fresh news has now surfaced about one of Royal Enfield’s upcoming launches- the Bear 650. Images of the motorcycle have now been leaked online, giving a detailed look at the design and key features. The motorcycle, scheduled to launch in the forthcoming months seems to resemble the Interceptor to a large extent.
The images show the motorcycle to be production-ready. The Bear 650 is essentially a scrambler based on the Interceptor, thus the visual similarity. It could launch in India, later this year.
Since it is based on the Interceptor 650, the Bear will use a lot of its framework and other components. On design grounds, there is a lot of cues shared, like the round LED headlight, peanut-shaped fuel tank, and a single-piece seat. There is even a tubular rear grab rail. The rear lamp cluster- tail lamps and turn indicators have been revised, and now look more retro and befitting the Scrambler nature of the vehicle.
The paint scheme is interesting as well. It looks good and youthful. The stripes, multi-tone aesthetics and the way ‘BEAR 650’ is written on the circular panel are all interesting. The wheels get touches of White as well. The seat can be seen in a shade of Blue with White piping. There could be more than one seat colour upon launch. This seems to be a much more shouty and mature colourway than what we had seen on the Guerrilla 450.
From the leaked images, it is clear that the Bear will have a single-pod instrument cluster. This could likely be an all-digital unit like what we had previously seen on the Himalayan and Guerrilla. It will likely come with Bluetooth-based smartphone connectivity as well. It remains to be known if the vehicle in these pictures is a top-spec or if there would be changes on other variants. Like other modern Royal Enfield motorcycles, the Bear could also come with USB charging post (likely the C-Type).
There will also be dual-channel ABS on offer. However, it remains to be seen if there will be an option to switch the rear ABS off if needed.
The RE Bear will be powered by the familiar 648cc, parallel-twin engine found on models like the Interceptor, Continental GT and SuperMeteor. It will be mated to a six-speed gearbox. The engine could feature a different state of tune, rendering the bike a unique character. From the images, it is evident that the Bear will come with a 2-in-one exhaust. This could possibly have a huge impact on the way it sounds. Be prepared for surprises!
Since this motorcycle is a scrambler, it is expected to be notably lighter than its 650 siblings. Expect more details around this to be out closer to launch. For the best experience while going off-roads, the Bear 650 will have USD front forks and dual rear shocks. These could significantly improve the ride quality. The images also suggest the possibility of single-disc brakes for both wheels. It seems like the bike will ride on spoke wheels with block-pattern tyres, and not alloys. However, Royal Enfield could also roll out alloy-equipped versions upon launch.
The RE Bear 650 will likely make its global debut at the 2024 EICMA motorcycle show in November. It could have a market launch there, or soon after. Expected price is ₹3.40-3.55 lakh, ex-showroom.
