Exclusive: Royal Enfield Bear 650 To Get Tubeless Spoked Rims

The Chennai-based motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield launched the Bear 650 scrambler last year at the EICMA. At the time, the company offered the Bear 650 with spoked wheels and off-road tyres. However, to make this already capable off-road motorcycle even better, the company is planning to offer it with tubeless spoked rims as an official accessory initially, and later allowing customers to opt for them as a factory-fitted option through the 'Make It Yours' customization program. Prior to the Bear 650, the same spoked rims were offered with the Himalayan 450.
Royal Enfield’s offering of tubeless spoked rims for the Bear 650 will increase the convenience of its buyers. As we all are aware, repairing punctures on spoked wheels is very time-consuming. However, with the new tubeless spoked rims, off-road enthusiasts will be able to repair the rims in a fraction of the time. Earlier, many buyers would have to opt for aftermarket kits, which would convert the spoked rims to fit tubeless tyres.
Apart from the tubeless spoked rims, the Bear 650 will not be seeing any more changes. This off-road-specific motorcycle, which is based on the Interceptor 650, pays homage to Eddie Mulder, who was an American actor that won the 1960 Big Bear Desert Run race. This particular Royal Enfield motorcycle has been named after this event.
The main highlight of the Royal Enfield Bear 650 is its 648cc parallel-twin motor, which it shares with the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650. This powerplant generates a maximum power of 47 bhp and 56.5 Nm of torque. Transmission duties on this motorcycle are handled by a 6-speed gearbox, and it features a unique 2-in-1 exhaust, which improves its ground clearance.
Mechanically, the Royal Enfield Bear 650 has been tweaked to take on the harsh terrains without a hiccup. It gets a strengthened frame with a revised chassis. The bike also gets Showa upside-down big piston forks at the front, which offer the bike a 130mm travel. As for the rear suspension, it gets a Showa twin-tube RSU, 115mm of travel.
The braking system of the Bear 650 includes a 320mm front disc; meanwhile, the rear disc is a 270mm unit. It also gets dual-channel ABS with switchable rear ABS for trials. At the front, this off-road-specific motorcycle gets 19-inch, and in the rear, it gets 17-inch spoked rims. As for the technological features, this bike comes with a full LED setup, including headlight, sleek turn indicators, and taillight.
It also gets a single-pod TFT display with Google Maps navigation and Tripper Dash, USB-C charging port, Wingman Connectivity, which includes real-time tracking, parked location, vehicle alerts, and trip data. The Bear 650 also offers 184mm ground clearance, handlebar braces, contoured scrambler seat with kicked-up rear loop, and competition-style number plate.
The Royal Enfield Bear 650 is offered in four variants: Broadwalk White priced at Rs 3.43 lakh, Petrol Green and Wild Honey at Rs 3.48 lakh, Golden Shadow at Rs 3.55 lakh, and lastly, Two Four Nine at Rs 3.63 lakh.
