Royal Enfield is not-so-secretly working on the development of a new, bigger 750cc engine. Recently, a sportier, faired version of the already popular Continental GT 650 café racer with this new motor was spotted testing near Chennai. This test mule has revealed a number of key details about the upcoming engine, which will be featured on a few different motorcycles from the brand.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 750 Spotted Testing

The Chennai-based bike maker has been testing a number of new bikes in the country, and the most recent one that was spotted is a Continental GT-based bike. It was seen wearing an extended fairing, which made it look like the retro café racers.

It was noted that the fairing had integrated turn indicators, and it extended till half of the fuel tank. What can also be observed is that the bike was equipped with sporty clip-on handlebars. Although the cockpit is not entirely visible, it looks like it will come with a concealed digital instrument gauge cluster.

Apart from these, the test mule was also seen with rear-set footpegs, which is a signature of the Continental GT’s sporty riding stance. Other notable highlights of this test mule include a longer, more comfortable-looking seat for both rider and pillion.

Royal Enfield Continental GT 750: Mechanical Specifications

Mechanically, we can note that this test mule was equipped with a traditional USD telescopic fork front suspension. As for the rear suspension, it was seen with dual shock absorbers. Apart from this, another notable highlight was a set of alloy wheels.

This particular test motorcycle was seen wearing 17-inch black alloy wheels that look very similar to the Continental GT that comes with alloys. Another important detail that can be noted from spy pics is that this bike was equipped with dual disc brakes at the front, making it the first Royal Enfield model to get this braking setup. Also, the rear gets single disc brakes.

New 750cc Parallel-Twin Engine

As for the most important highlight of this new upcoming motorcycle, it is the engine. This bike was seen with a bigger 750cc parallel-twin engine, which is an upgraded version of the already popular 650cc motor. It is an air-cooled engine that will make around 55 bhp of power and 65 Nm of torque.

The current generation 650cc parallel-twin motor makes 47 bhp and 52 Nm of torque. This new 750cc engine will still come mated to a 6-speed gearbox, and it will be crowned as the most powerful motor offered by Royal Enfield. It will most likely be featured in a few more bikes from the brand, including the Interceptor and Himalayan.

Will the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor 650 Be Discontinued?

It is believed that Royal Enfield is not looking to discontinue the 650 twins—Continental GT and Interceptor—in India. Rather, the new 750 series bikes will sit above them and serve as flagship motorcycles from the brand.

Presently, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 starts at Rs 3.19 lakh. Meanwhile, the Interceptor 650 starts at Rs 3.03 lakh. We can expect a significant price bump when these new 750cc bikes arrive in India. Most likely, they will make their debut in 2026–27.
