Himalayan Electric Will Be Royal Enfield's Most Powerful Motorcycle With 100 Bhp Output: Details

It isn't a secret anymore that Royal Enfield (RE) is working on an all-electric Himalayan, which will be sold under RE and not the 'Flying Flea' sub-brand. We recently saw the vehicle being tested in the Himalayas and now new details about the same have surfaced. The latest report by Zigwheels says that the Himalayan EV will be the most powerful Royal Enfield ever made, likely delivering around 100 hp!
The prototype being tested features a large 14kWh battery pack. If this makes it to the production model, the Himalayan Electric will become the electric two-wheeler to offer the largest battery pack in the country. At present, the Ultraviolette F77 holds this title, with its 10.3kWh unit. The 14 kWh unit will have an onboard charger.
The electric motor on the Himalayan EV will be sourced from the Spanish company 'Stark'. This brand holds a wealth of experience in designing high-performance motors for electric motorcycles. Plus, Royal Enfield has a stake in the brand.
Courtesy of its large battery pack and the 100hp motor, the electric Himalayan is claimed to have insane acceleration. The top speed could be above 120 kph. No clear clue about the possible torque figures are available. But if the power itself stands at 100 hp, we can only imagine how massive it will be. Stark seems to have put in learnings from its time making electric dirt bikes, to the project, thereby packing the mountain of torque safely into its powertrain.
The prototype seems to have its battery pack mounted as a structural member. The main frame and sub-frame of the EV are made out of Aluminium. The battery pack will likely have a protective case made of Aluminium as well.
The bike will likely use an Ohlins suspension setup- fully-adjustable USD telescopic front forks and an adjustable rear mono-shock. It will offer long travel at both ends. Braking will be handled by Nissin callipers. The production model will likely have spoke wheels and knobby rubber from Bridgestone.
Many were previously sceptical about the actual scope of an electric adventure bike. Having learnt about the powertrain details, however, there seems to be hardly any room for such doubts. We absolutely lack clarity on the actual range figures. But it seems to be safe to expect around 200-250km per charge.
Royal Enfield will also offer four riding modes on the Himalayan EV: Zen (city), Off-road, Tour, Rally. Each of these could bring about significant changes in throttle response and performance. Considering this is an EV with over 100 hp at your fingertips, it is critical that Royal Enfield gets the torque split between the riding modes right.
The prototype doesn't have traction control or even ABS. The production model will likely get these, along with various other safety technologies.
Royal Enfield seems to be packing the Himalayan EV with all the bells and whistles and getting the engineering side perfect. A beast of a motorcycle seems to be in the making... The production model will likely be an evolution of the HIM.E shown at EICMA 2023. There is no clue on the possible launch timeline. The price could stand in the ballpark of 7 lakh rupees, if going by early speculations alone...
