New Images Of Production-Ready Royal Enfield Himalayan Electric Adventure Bike Leak

Royal Enfield is known to be working on an all-electric version of the Himalayan ADV. Images and videos of the near-production prototype being tested in the Himalayas had surfaced previously, giving us a detailed look at its design. Now, a new set of pictures is out, showing the electric motorcycle in various parts of Shimla. The company seems to be testing it extensively on snow. This time, the bikes look more production-ready.
The new set of images has been shared by the Instagram handle Xplorearth. Based in Shimla, they organize 4x4 adventures and guided motorcycle tours in the Himalayas. The Royal Enfield team seems to have collaborated with Xplorearth for the Himalayan Electric’s testing and explorations there.
The motorcycles are seen without any camouflage in the pictures. This also makes us assume that Royal Enfield could be filming content- TV commercials, B-rolls, development film etc- with the bikes, in the mountains.
The Himalayan EVs are seen parked at a hotel, likely readied for the day’s expedition. We get to see the details o its design and even the seat upholstery. The Ohlins-sourced fully-adjustable USD telescopic front forks can be seen in the pictures. These are finished in a Golden colour.
The bike will also come with Nissin callipers. We can also see wire-spoke wheels and knobby tyres on these. The seat is finished in Black, while the ‘Royal Enfield’ lettering at the rear is in Yellow. Look closely and you’ll see that this comes with Black contrast stitching.
The images also confirm that the new motorcycle would come with a full-LED lighting setup. We can also see a digital screen which does duty as the rider display on the prototype. It remains to be seen if the same unit will be carried to the production-spec as well.
The electric Himalayan will use Aluminium main frame and sub frame. The battery pack is likely to be a 14 kWh unit with an onboard charger. As you may have realised by now, this is the largest battery pack on any two wheeler on sale here!
It will also come with a protective case made of Aluminium. The battery pack will be mounted as a structural member. Though we lack clarity around the same, the EV could return a range of around 200-250km per charge.
Royal Enfield is known to source its electric motor from the Spanish company Start, in which it has invested in. Stark has immense experience and expertise in designing high-performance motors for EVs. The one on the Himalayan is expected to produce around 100 hp. The electric bike will reportedly have insane acceleration and a top speed of 120 kph.
The bike will also offer selectable riding modes to further optimize rider experience. Four modes are expected: Zen (city), Off-road, Tour, Rally. These will alter the throttle response and performance significantly. Royal Enfield is known to be working hard to get the torque split right between these.
The production-spec Himalayan EV will also come equipped with safety tech like switchable ABS and traction control.
The manufacturer hasn’t revealed a launch timeline for the Himalayan EV. But going by the cues from the new set of images, the motorcycle could be out soon. Needless to say, the Himalayan EV will be sold under Royal Enfield and not ‘Flying Flea’.
The EV vertical will start its journey in India with two models- the FF.C6 and FF.S6. These are also being tested extensively in the Himalayas.
