Royal Enfield is known to be working on its electric vehicle (EV) vertical- the Flying Flea. The manufacturer has lately been organising events in cities like Delhi, Mumbai and London to showcase the product. The latest in the line is the showcasing that was recently held in Bengaluru. It gave us a closer look at the Flying Flea C6. (FF.C6)- the first motorcycle to expect from the sub-brand.

We expect it to launch in early 2026- probably in January or February. It will pack a lot of torque courtesy of the capable electric powertrain. The show bike had a stylish Aluminium frame, new, premium switchgear, and features like keyless go. The circular dash seems to have been borrowed from the Guerrilla. The production model will be available in both single and two-seater forms.

Flying Flea follows a design principle it calls “Live Lightly.” This doesn’t just mean low weight. It’s about making motorcycles less intimidating, easier to ride, and more accessible to everyone. It’s a cleaner, quieter form of motorcycling, without losing the core character.

The C6 looks good. Classic Royal Enfield elements like the girder fork have been reimagined with lightweight materials like Aluminium and Magnesium.

Almost every major part of the Flying Flea bikes will be developed in-house. This includes battery packs, motors, ECUs, and controllers. The team has filed more than 45 patents, including 10 international ones. A major innovation is a new cell welding technique that improves both battery health and safety.

AI is also part of the project. The tech team is working on smart systems that adapt to terrains, detect obstacles, and learn from rider habits.

Not An Adaptation, But A Fresh Start

Flying Flea is not just Royal Enfield trying to go electric. It is a separate brand built from scratch. Royal Enfield has teamed up with Qualcomm to get the tech side sorted. According to Mario Alvisi, Chief Growth Officer at Flying Flea, the brand was born “not from necessity, but from vision.”

This approach reflects a deep shift. With Flying Flea, Royal Enfield (RE) is reaching out to a new generation raised on smartphones, clean energy, and quiet performance.

In recent years, RE interacted with over 5,000 riders from around the world- especially the younger ones. The insights were clear. Riders today want light, easy-to-ride bikes with smart tech and clean design.

The Flying Flea range will answer this demand. Instead of trying to squeeze electric parts into an old frame, the team created something completely new.

The name “Flying Flea” comes from a legendary 125cc bike used in World War II. It was known for being simple, agile, and lightweight. The new range intends to bring back the same spirit, but with modern features and design.

Designed For The City And Beyond

Flying Flea’s first models will be the C6 (Classic) and the S6 (Scrambler). Both are built for urban riding, and offer flexibility for light off-road and weekend escapes. This reflects the “City+” vision—a blend of city use with just enough capabilities for more adventurous rides.

The team behind Flying Flea is set up like a startup. Though backed by Royal Enfield, it runs independently. Umesh Krishnappa, CTO of EV at Royal Enfield, says that this freedom allowed them to launch the C6 in just just 20 months. The global debut had taken place at EICMA 2024.

To Use Snapdragon!

The Flying Flea range will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon QC2290 processor. It powers everything from real-time feedback to the OTA updates. The 'Software-Defined Vehicle' (SDV) will be capable of adapting to each rider.

But it doesn’t stop there. The team is working with sound engineers to develop new ways of communicating through the bike. Instead of loud engine sounds, you get smart alerts, digital vibrations, and haptic feedback—just like a smartphone.
