TVS Motor Company has given its popular Apache RTR 200 4V a premium makeover to mark the 20th anniversary of the Apache brand. The Chennai-based manufacturer launched the updated motorcycle at Rs 1.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), making it Rs 5,370 more expensive than the outgoing model.

The 2025 Apache RTR 200 4V receives its most significant visual upgrade in years, headlined by striking golden 37mm upside-down front forks that replace the conventional telescopic suspension. These premium USD forks, borrowed from the Apache RTR 160 4V, promise sharper handling and better feedback during cornering. However, we did notice that the new setup lacks the preload adjustability that made the previous Showa-tuned telescopic fork quite versatile.

Fresh Face for a Familiar Formula

Beyond the golden forks, TVS has redesigned the Apache's ergonomics with a new hydroformed single-piece handlebar that replaces the aggressive clip-on setup. This change should make the bike more comfortable for daily riding whilst reducing replacement costs if damaged in a crash. The front wheel now sports an eye-catching red finish whilst the rear remains black, creating what some might call a Harley Quinn-inspired colour scheme.

The motorcycle arrives in three fresh colour options: Glossy Black, Matte Black, and Granite Grey, all featuring updated graphics that give the bike a more contemporary appearance. These aesthetic changes represent TVS's effort to keep the Apache relevant in an increasingly competitive 200cc segment.

Under the refreshed skin, the Apache RTR 200 4V retains its proven 197.75cc single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine that produces 20.8 horsepower at 9,000rpm and 17.25Nm of torque at 7,250rpm. The motor now complies with OBD-2B emission norms, ensuring it meets the latest environmental regulations without compromising performance.

TVS has retained all the features that made the Apache RTR 200 4V stand out in its segment. The motorcycle continues to offer three riding modes (Urban, Sport, and Rain), dual-channel ABS with rear lift-off protection, and TVS SmartXonnect Bluetooth connectivity with voice assistance. The adjustable brake and clutch levers, slipper clutch, and fully digital instrument cluster with LED lighting remain unchanged.

Market Reality Check

The price increase positions the 2025 Apache RTR 200 4V in premium territory within the 200cc segment. At Rs 1.54 lakh, it sits above rivals like the Bajaj Pulsar NS200 and competes directly with the more powerful Bajaj Pulsar N250.
