Finally, it has been confirmed that the Indian motorcycle manufacturing giant TVS Motor Company is currently working on the development of a brand-new 450cc motorcycle. This motorcycle will be using the same new 450cc parallel-twin platform on which the upcoming BMW Motorrad R 450 GS will be based. As per the reports, this new powerplant will be built by TVS, and after the launch of the adventure motorcycle from BMW and another bike from TVS, more bikes based on this platform will be launched.

TVS Motor Company and BMW Motorrad in India have enjoyed a lot of success with the 310cc platform. Now, both companies have once again joined their hands for the development of a new 450cc platform, which will be replacing the current 310cc platform and its motorcycles. This new platform and powerplant will be manufactured by TVS at its Hosur facility.

TVS’ new 450cc motorcycle

The upcoming first 450cc motorcycle from TVS will not be an adventure motorcycle like the BMW Motorrad R 450 GS. Reportedly, this new motorcycle will be a fully-faired, high-performance supersport bike. This bike will be positioned as a spiritual successor to the RR310 but with twin-cylinder performance.

Coming to the powertrain, the 450cc will be a parallel-twin engine. This twin-cylinder, liquid-cooled petrol engine will be able to produce a peak output of approximately 47 bhp. The torque figure of this new powerplant will be around 45 Nm. It has been reported that this new engine will be the first in the world to get a 125-degree firing angle.

As per the reports, Apache RR 450 is expected to be unveiled at MotoSoul 2025, which is scheduled for December 2025. Apart from the BMW and TVS motorcycles, the upcoming Norton motorcycles, which will be making their debut soon, will utilise the same platform.

At the moment, it has been reported that Norton motorcycles will be entering India with the 400–600cc category with single- and twin-cylinder motorcycles. The first Norton 450cc models are expected to be unveiled at EICMA 2025. The Norton offering could be a performance-oriented neo-roadster.

In other news, recently the near-production version of the BMW R 450 GS was spotted testing on public roads. The main difference noted on this test mule was that it had a much more conventional dual LED headlight set-up. The concept model was shown with a unique quad LED DRL light with a GS badge in the middle.

Apart from this, the overall height of the test mule was also slightly lower than that of the concept vehicle. The bike, on the side profile, exposes the frame and gets middle-set foot pegs. As for the rear, this test mule was seen with LED taillights and a storage box, which most likely will be offered as an accessory by the brand.
